Pomp as Taraba Police Children school graduates 3rd set

It was a seemingly endless joy at the Police Children School Jalingo on Wednesday, 24th July, 2024. The day was set aside specially for graduation, Speech and Prize giving day to honour the 3rd set of pupils who were passing out from the institution.
The occasion which was third of its kind in the institution, also served as a fertile ground where prizes and awards were presented to outstanding pupils of the institution who distinguished themselves in different areas
Addressing guests at the occasion, the Commissioner of Police, Taraba State Command, CP David Iloyanomon stated that the Police Children School was esterblished in Jalingo just as it is done in other states, to help children of Police officers and other persons to have easy access to elementary education for their children
The Commissioner who was represented by ACP Lawan Yunus, advised parents to discipline their children and discourage them from taking part in the nation wide planned protest, emphasising that such rebellious acts did not conform with the moral standard of our society
He congratulated the graduating pupils and urged teachers in the school to remain responsible and committed to achieving the set goals of the institution, even as he charged pupils in the school to always respect their teachers and take their studies seriously
Also speaking, the chairman of the occasion and President, Muslim Students Society of Nigeria, Taraba State Chapter, Mallam Abdulazack Mana, appraised the potentials of the institution and lauded the efforts of the management and staff of the institution towards effective up bringing of the pupils, pledging that as parents, they would do everything possible to find ways of collaborating with the government to support the school to attain greater heights
In a paper presentation at the occasion, the Director of Schools at the Taraba State Education Resource Center, Mr Aorabee Terkule, charged parents to always engage their children with reading drills especially downloading short stories from their website, to take children attention away from movies and other modern gadgets that could easily corrupt their minds.
Mr Aorabee encouraged the school management to put up a proper arrangement and envite his team for a learning session, where they would come in specifically and train children on using modern devices to get short stories and read them as well.
Delivering a goodwill message, the Coordinator, Force Education Unit, Taraba State, Mrs Rebecca Yusuf Bawuro stated that the managements of Police Children Schools across the country would continue to do their best to ensure that the schools meet up with the expected standard and mission of their establishment
She noted that the Schools employ graduates and professionals who are placed on a reasonable renumeration to encourage hard work and effective delivery of services in the schools.
Mrs Rebecca who encouraged parents to enroll their children into police schools, disclosed that they had applied to the Taraba State Government to facilitate establishment of Police Secondary School in the state and expressed hope that the state governor, Dr Agbu Kefas would who is a lover of education would hearken to their call to enable them train students who would help secure our land, especially that the issue of security has become a thing of concern
Earlier in his speech, the headmaster of the school, Mr Gabriel Torkume said the esterblishment of the children school in Taraba State in 2017 brought the total number of Police Children Schools nation wide to 135
He noted that the school been the first para military school to be esterblished in the state, has continue to offer higher quality and vibrant education, rich and dynamic moral standard to pupils since its esterblishment.
“We protect and sustain high quality learning standard set by the Nigeria Police Force Education Unit. We give knowledge through discipline which is our motto. Our teachers are role models. They posses all qualities of an ideal teacher and are fair and firm in their dealings with pupils”. He added
The head teacher further identified lack of perimeter fence, school bus and the need to renovate block of three classrooms in the school as some of the challenges facing the school at the moment, even as he solicited for material and financial support from the relevant authorities to enable them address the challenges
Mr Torkume however, lauded the mind blowing educational reforms of the governor of Taraba State, Dr Agbu Kefas and expressed hope that one day, the Police Children School would also benefit directly from the educational transformation projects
The outgoing Head boy Abubakar Abdullahi Yusuf and Head Girl, Hauwa U. Galadima, all appreciated their teachers and parents for forfeiting their pleasures to give them a promising future, pledging that they would grow up and make them proud
Meanwhile, the occasion which was added colour by a grand parade, cutting of celebration cake and presentation of various cultural dance, sent off 22 pupils for secondary school education while 27 graduated from Nursery two, ready to move to Primary one in the next academic session
