The Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, has donated a whooping sum of N50 million naira recapitalization grant to 1,000 petty traders in Taraba State to boost their businesses

Sen Oluremi made the donation in Jalingo, the Taraba State capital, during a two day working visit to the state

The first lady also flagged off the distribution of 10,000 professional kits to midwives across the six states of the North East during the visit, to improve healthcare delivery in the region

Presenting the cheque to the wife of the Governor of Taraba State, Agyin Kefas for onward disbursement, Sen Oluremi said the grand was part of the Renew Hope Initiative of the president to support low income earners to improve their standard of living

Harping on the distribution of the professional kits, Sen. Oluremi reaffirmed the Federal Government’s commitment to supporting various health interventions aimed at reducing maternal and child mortality across the country.

She stated that the current administration is focused on leaving a lasting legacy of a healthy population, especially among the youth, rather than one plagued by preventable illnesses.

In her words, “We are here to encourage our frontline health workers by providing them with incentives and recognizing the great job they are doing.

“We believe that if they are well-supported, the rate of maternal and infant mortality will reduce significantly.

“We are also raising awareness about HIV/AIDS because the rate of mother-to-child transmission remains high.

The Coordinating Minister for Health, Prof. Ali Pate, in his speech noted that the FG prioritizes the health of Nigerians and has continually shown commitment to this cause

He said, “In the North East alone, 8,500 frontline health workers have been trained, including 1,300 from Taraba.

“More than 1,000 health facilities in the region receive quarterly disbursements from the Basic Healthcare Provision Fund, with 170 of them located in Taraba.

“These are direct efforts by the Federal Government to ensure that resources reach the front lines where services are delivered.”

In their separate remarks, Taraba State Governor, Dr. Agbu Kefas, and his wife, Agyin Kefas, expressed gratitude to the Federal Government for the interventions under the Renewed Hope Initiative, noting that the efforts align with the state government’s development agenda.
