Elections’ aftermaths: PDP to begin reconciliations in Taraba

The Taraba State Chapter of the People’s Democratic Party PDP, will soon commence reconciliations of aggrieved members who fell out as a result of the outcome of the 2023 general elections.
The newly inaugurated chairman of the party, Alh. Abubarkar Bawa disclosed this development to news men shortly after receiving the mantle of leadership of the party in Taraba State at the Party’s State Secretariat in Jalingo, Taraba State capital.
Alh. Bawa noted that the development was part of the efforts to strengthen the party and reunite members to have a cohesive house for a better performance.
He stated that PDP was one family and there was no reason whatsoever to remain apart especially that elections were over and victory gained by the party in the state.
The chairman assured the state executive committee members of the party that he would work hand in hand with them to sustain the party’s victory and move it to a greater height.
“We are going to start reconciliation in the party across board. We will ensure that we reach out to all members who are aggrieved as a result of the outcome of the elections so that they will come back and join us to work as a team, as a family as usual.
” As far as we are concern, PDP as a party has not fail Taraba State and that is why we have been sustaining victory. It is our belief that as a ruling party in the state, we will do it again as we have been doing in the previous terms”. He added.
Hon. Bawa who congratulated the Taraba State Governor Elect, Col. Agbu Kefas (Rtd) on his resounding victory at the 2023 gubernatorial poll in Taraba, also appreciated State Executive members of the party for finding him Worthy to serve in that capacity, pledging that by the special grace of God, he would justify the confidence reposed in him.
Earlier at the inauguration ceremony, the Vice Chairman PDP North-East, Hon. Emmanuel Bovoa ably represented by the Zonal Secretary PDP North-East, Alhaji Jauro Kabir Bappa said, the nomination of Alhaji Abubakar Bawa was in line with the constitution of the People’s Democratic Party PDP 2017 as amended.
According to him, if a state Chairman of the party resign his position, his deputy take over in acting capacity for a period of six months after which the State Executive Committee of the party convey a meeting at the instance of the leader of the party in the state to take a decision on whether the acting chairman should complete the tenure or a new chairman should emerge.
Hon. Emmanuel Bovoa further noted that Alhaji Abubakar Bawa’s emergence as the new Taraba State PDP Chairman was to complete the tenure of Lt. Col. Agbu Kefas Rtd who had been elected Governor of the state.
Meanwhile, a chief Magistrate in Jalingo administered oath of office on Alhaji Abubakar Bawa as new PDP state Chairman at the occasion which was attended by several PDP Stalwarts in Taraba State.
