Jalingo goes agog as Council boss swears-in new councillors

Jalingo Local Government Area, the capital city of Taraba State was on Thursday 8th September, 2022 brought to a stand still as most residence, Royal fathers party loyalists businessmen and women as well as youth abandoned their chores and troop into the Local Government Secretariat to witness yet another epoch making event, the swearing-in of the Vice Caretaker chairman and councillors of the ten wards of the Local Government.
The event became second of it kind to be held at the premises of the Local Government Secretariat during the week.
Two days back, precisely on Monday 5th September, 2022 the were people had gathered at the same premises, where they witnessed how Hon Aminu Jauro Hassan took over the mantle of leadership as the Caretaker Chairman of the Local Government from the Head of Administration of the Local Government (HOLGA), Alhaji Isa Mohammed who had been overseeing the affairs of the Council for the past three months.
Addressing the newly sworn – in Vice caretaker chairman and the ten councillors, shortly after they recieved oath of office administered by Magistrate Aisha Mahmud, the Caretaker chairman, Hon. Aminu Jauro Hassan, reminded them that the task ahead of them was a herculean one though not insurmountable.
Hon. Aminu Hassan who congratulated the newly sworn-in councillors on their new appointments, sued for cooperation and understanding between the councillors, political stakeholders, security agencies and the general people of the LGA to enable the administration under his leadership, attain the desired destination.
The Caretaker chairman expressed sincere appreciation to the Executive Governor of Taraba State, Arc Darius Dickson Ishaku for saddling him and his team, with the responsibility of piloting the affairs of the Local Government and called on the general public to work with them, support them physically, morally and through their prayers to enable them work in line with the Rescue Mission Agenda of the governor to better the lives of the people particularly in the council and the state at large.
He equally appreciated the past leadership of the council under the able leadership of the Head of Administration (HOLGA), Alhaji Isa Mohammed and all the security agencies for their lofty contributions towards upliftment of the council and maintenance of peace and order.
Hon. Jauro further appealed to the security agencies to brace-up and consolidate on the gains attained especially that political campaigns would soon commenced adding that his administration would not derail in it resolve to support them at all times within the limit of it resources.
The Caretaker Chairman appealed to parents to educate and sensitize their wards on good conduct and proper politicking especially now that political campaigns are about to commenced.
“Politics should be done without bitterness and intimidation. I appeal to our politicians to play the game by the rules. For us as a council, we shall continue to conduct ourselves with the fear of God, believing that it is God alone that gives power.
“Our administration will not leave the strides of our predecessors to go in vain. We will strive to build and consolidate on the already esterblished foundation. By so doing, we shall welcome suggestions and constructive criticism that would improve the lots of the people of the local Government Council”. He stated.
Reacting on behalf of the newly sworn-in committee, the Jalingo LGA Vice Caretaker Chairman, Hon Abraham Mustapher Kaigama, appreciated the honour done them by the Executive Governor of Taraba State, Arc Darius Dickson Ishaku and pledged that they would remain loyal and committed to their responsibilities so as to justify the confidence reposed in them by the governor and political leaders of the state.
Earlier in an opening address, the Head of Administration of the Local Government (HOLGA), Alhaji Isa Muhammad who was represented by the Director of Finance, Alh. Uba Muhammed, congratulated the newly sworn-in councillors and encouraged them to work assiduously to unite people and maintain peace in their domains.
Meanwhile, Umar Abba Usman was sworn-in at the occasion as caretaker councillor of Turaki “A” Ward, Jolly Elisha Mashi for Turaki “B” Ward, Sirajo Garba, Barade Ward, Hamza Jaji for Sintalli Ward and Markus Shugaba for Chatalla Ward.
Others are; John Philip for Kona Ward, Raphael Balkon Moses, Mayo Gwoi ward, Saifullahi Yusuf, Sarkin Dawaki Ward, Aaron Jacob, Maijindadi Ward, and Shuaibu Abubakar Yelwa, Abbare Yelwa Ward respectively.
The swearing-in ceremony was marked with different cultural dance troupes. There were also open display of placards by youth showing support and solidarity with their political candidates especially those vying for different political positions in the 2023 general elections.
