Following the signing into act, the electoral bill by President Muhammadu Buhari, the Taraba State chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Barrister Tukur Ibrahim Elsudi has said that the end of arm-chair politicians who claim electoral positions through rigging has come.

Elsudi disclosed this while speaking with journalists shortly after receiving Mr. David Jimkuti, a Southern Taraba Senatorial aspirant who was at the Taraba State Secretariat of the party to officially declare his intention to contest for the Senatorial seat comes 2023.

He stated that the singular act demonstrated by the president of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Muhammadu Buhari has ushered in a new era in the political firmament of Nigeria, as politicians must now have to go to the grass root and genuinely seek for votes before occupying any elective position in the country.

“With what our president has done, politicians will no longer sit in the comfort zones of their houses or offices and expect that they will have some foot soldiers that will go and win elections for them.

“We are highly elated with this development because this is what APC has been advocating for a very long time. Our party encourages free, fair and credible election and those that don’t believe in free and fair election will meet their waterloo in 2023 as they will not be able to rig elections”. He stated.

The APC Chairman also stated that the development is part of the cardinal principles or promises that the president had made to Nigerians and by doing that he had fulfilled his promise.

Elsudi who challenged the present administration in the State under the leadership of Governor Darius Dickson Ishaku, maintained that the good people of the state are already disgruntled, disenchanted and dissatisfied with its policies and most of them including some cabinet members of the administration would soon join the APC because they had now realized they had taken a wrong path.

“Any Friday that will be good, the signs will show on Wednesday. Now we have started seen that definitely comes 2023, APC is going to take over Taraba State. With the caliber of people coming into our party, we are sure that 2023 is going to be an easy ride”.

Meanwhile, Mr. David Jimkuti who was at APC State Secretariat to declare his intention to run for the Senate seat of the Southern Taraba Zone, had ensured the part supporters that he was confident that the seat was strictly for him and his party.

He disclosed that he would hinge his representation on job creation, empowerment of women and improvement of health care system for his people if elected.

Jimkuti who said his decision to contest was an answer to the call of critical stakeholders, women, youth and the vulnerable people of the Southern Zone, expressed confident that he would defeat anybody that will contest with him for the position.

“As far as I am concern, I am the only person that is contesting for Southern Taraba Senatorial seat in the 2023 election. Any other person that will vie for same position will be disappointed at the end”. He stated.

Mr. David Jimkuti hails from Takun Local Government Area, the same LGA with the incumbent Governor Darius Ishaku who had also declared his intention to join the senatorial race after the aspiration of his tenure in 2023.
