SO SAD: See what Atiku Did to journalists in Taraba

Jethro Yerga, Jalingo

Journalists in Taraba State, Saturday, 21 May, 2022 recieved an unusual experience when the former Vice President and a front line Presidential aspirant on the platform of the People’s Democratic Party, PDP, Atiku Abubakar visited Taraba State to canvass for votes from the PDP delegates in the state for the forth coming Presidential primary election of the party.

The journalists, in the early hours of the day, were informed that the Former Vice President was going to be in the state by 12:00 noon and so in their usual manner of hunting for news, especially from political bigwigs, they were salivating for good stories considering the fact that they were about to catch a ” big fish”.

They had dusted their gadgets and moved straight to the Exco Chamber of the Taraba State Government House, Venue of the occasion where they kept waiting till 3:12 before the Former Vice President Alh. Atiku Abubakar appeared.

Though the former Vice President could not give them formal recognition during his speech despite the fact that cameras were pointed on him all over the place, the journalists were mindless about it as they were more concerned about stories that could fly especially from a high profile personality and a national figure.

They had hope that at the end of the day, they would suprise their Media Houses with thought provoking stories from a man of timber and caliber, but this did not come to pass as the Former Vice President in his speech simply said, ” the person that opened the occasion with prayers has spoken my mind”.

” This is my home. I need not to tell you about me and what I stand for. It is as if the person that prayed has known my target areas. He mentioned unifying the country, fixing the country’s economy, restructuring the country, creating job opportunities and fighting insecurity. These are things I planned to do if you vote me as your candidate and subsequently your president”. He said casually.

Not satisfied with the speech, the journalists moved out swiftly in a very smart manner, mounted their cameras and set up other media gadgets to seek clarification and get more explanations  regarding issues of the country and circumstances surrounding his Presidential ambition but Alh. Atiku Abubakar snubbed at them and zoomed off with his very high intimidating convoy.

The journalists who were disappointed with the Former President’s show of disregard to the media went home mourmoring.

Meanwhile, the Executive Governor of Taraba State, Arc. Darius Dickson Ishaku who had received Atiku on his arrival, described him as a successful business man and a National icon who understand the past, present and future of Nigeria in an unimaginable manner.

Governor Ishaku stated that the visit of Alh. atiku Abubarkar in Taraba was more or less a home coming and appealed that if he (Atiku), clinched the ticket of PDP and eventually become President of the country, he should invest in the Mambilla Power Project so that he would boost power supply in the North Eastern Region of the country and beyond.

The governor who said Taraba State is always proud of Alh. Abubakar Atiku, urged the delegates to vote for him, maintaining that the Formal Vice President had all it takes to solve the issue of insecurity that is bedeviling the country within six month of his administration.

Earlier, the founder of African Independent Television (AIT), Raymond Dokpesi and the chairman, Atiku Abubakar Presidential Campaign Office who led the delegation, all maintained that APC as a party had failed Nigeria and Alh. Atiku Abubakar is the only suitable aspirant that can “rescue the sinking country and fix all it’s challenges.
