Prof Bako welcomes freshers, chides them to align with vision, mission of Tsu

The Vice Chancellor of Taraba State University, Jalingo, Professor Paul Sunday Bako today, welcome the newly admitted students who have fulfilled all the necessary requirements in to Taraba State University, Jalingo and chodes them to align with the vision and mission of Taraba State University.

Prof Bako welcome and congratulated the freshers while delivering his opening remarks at the 15th Matriculation of the Taraba State University, Jalingo held at the General Theophilus Danjuma Sports Complex.

“As you matriculate into our great institution today, I welcome you with open arms and warm congratulations. As you begin this new chapter of your life, I urge you to embrace the opportunities and challenges that lie ahead, “advised.

Prof Bako maintained that Taraba State University under his stewardship as Vice Chancellor, is committed to fostering a community of scholars who are dedicated to academic excellence, innovation and service adding that, the new students should navigate the campus to discover and grow.

“I encourage you to explore, discover and grow. Take advantage of our state-of-the-art facilities, engage with our renowned faculty and participate in our vibrant student life,” he stated.

He stressed further that, the university is growing rapidly, driven by big dreams and determination, noting that, the newly admitted students are expected to align with the vision and mission of the institution by contributing their unique skills and abilities to achieve the objectives.

“Our university is growing rapidly, driven by big dreams and determination. As newly admitted students, you are expected to align with our vision and mission, contributing your unique skills and abilities to achieve our objectives. Shun cultism, drug abuse, examination malpractice and all other antisocial acts as outlined in the students handbook, ” he said.

He however, recounted his achievements so far to include; establishment of Taraba State University Bakery and Pasteris, Taraba State Water and Beverages Factory, Taraba State University Mushroom Farm, Taraba State University Butchery/Meat Shop, Reconstruction of Taraba State University Printing Press, Accreditation of fifty three academic programs by the NUC as well as professional accreditation of six programs by the relevant professional bodies including; Nursing Science, Environmental Health Science, Council on Legal Education, Medical Laboratory sciences, Accounting, Engineering, Hostel renovations, 50% reduction in school fees among other achievements.

Prof Bako expressed delight to Dr. Agbu Kefas for his significant contributions and support to the university adding that, within the space of one year, his administration has facilitated and implemented numerous projects in the university.

The Commissioner of Education, Dr. Augustina Godwin who represented the Governor, congratulated the newly admitted students for making it to the university to acquire academic excellence and charged them to make the university and their parents proud.

Orkaa Kertor who spoke on behalf of the freshers, expressed gratitude to God for making it possible for them to witness the event and promised to abide by the laid down rules and regulations of the institution.

Dignitaries who graced the occasion include; the Honorable Commissioner of Education, Dr. Augustina Godwin Commissioner of Social Justice and Reintegration, Dr. Fillister Irarimam Musa, Provost College of Agriculture Science and Technology, Dr Ayuba Gajirla, among others.

High points of the occasion included, administering of oath to the newly admitted students and cultural displays among other things.
