ICADA Jalingo Branch Inaugurates new officials

The Jalingo branch of Ichen Cultural and Development Association (ICADA), at the weekend, inaugurated new officials to pilot the affairs of the association for yet another tenure of four years.

At the General Congress of the association held at Comr. Peter Gambo Hall, Nurses House Jalingo, members through an open ballot system, elected and Inaugurated 12 new executive members of the association.

Though some of the executive officers for some positions emerged through concrete consensus and thus returned unoposed, three of the positions were keenly contested and winners emerged.

The position of the Chairman of the association which was keenly contested by three candidates was won by Lt. Nuhu Nashuka Tukura (rt) who scored 36 votes to defeat Jonah C. Jatau and Makan Danduba U. who scored 14 and 20 votes respectively.

Edweyan Maigoge emerged Vice Chairman with 42 votes after defeating Emuti Ibrahim who scored on 27 vote. The position of General Secretary goes to Danjuma Yusuf who scored 47 votes to defeat Williams Dankadi Abagwe who recieved only 23 votes.

Danladi Yaro returned unoposed As Assistant Secretary, Ester Amos Shamaki as the treasurer just as Ebenseh Sale returned unoposed as the Women Leader of the association respectively.

Also, Inusa Nathaniel returned unoposed as Financial Secretary, Vincent Andrew as Organizing Secretary while Adams Danjuma returned as the Public Relation Officer (PRO) of the association. Stephen C. Galadima takes the position of Youth Leader, Twabe Musa Gidado was Inaugurated as the Auditor just as Dauda Ibrahim goes with the post of Provost of the association respectively.

Speaking shortly after the inauguration, the newly Inaugurated chairman Lt. Nuhu Nashuka Tukura (rt) who spoke on behalf of the new exco, pledged that his led administration would do everything to ensure that they justify the confidence reposed in them.

He appreciated the outgoing exco for their resilience and for all the achievements they had recorded during their tenure and pledged that his led administration would consolidates their efforts to lift the association to an enviable position.

Earlier, the outgoing chairman, Mr. Philip Daniel who took time to recount his administration’s stewardship noted that, the journey was so challenging but they were able to summount some of the challenges and placed the association on the path of development.
He Identified lack of commitment and non payment of dues by most members including some national exco members of the association who are residing in Jalingo.

He pointed out that existence of unaproved ICADA branches withing Jalingo metropolis and persistent agitations for clanish representation in the association’s exco, are some of the challenges the present exco must have to tackle in order to take the association to a greater height.

Mr. Philibus noted that despite all the challenges his led administration had faced, they were able to register ICADA Jalingo branch with the Taraba State Ministry of Youth and Sport and with the National body of the association.

He said they had also opened a special account with United Bank for Africa (UBA) for the association and sustained executive and Congress meetings among many other achievements.

” We also engaged the media at various instances to promote and propagate our cultural heritage and we also rented an office for the association however, because of paucity of funds, we couldn’t continue to pay for the rent and therefore, we vacated the place”. He added.

The association had during the Congress, presented Certificates of meritorious service to some distinguished members and also observed one minutes silent in honour of Mr. Bako Sallau who was the treasurer of the association, Mr. Silas Habila Maigoge who was the former chairman and other members who could not make it up to the day.
