Tiv Cultural Association condemns criminal attack on KYK team

The Tiv Cultural and Social Association TCSA, an umbrella body of entire Tiv people of Taraba State, has condemned in strong terms, the recent attack on members of KYK who were going for a church conference at Abinse in Benue State
The tragic event according to sources, claimed the life of Mr. Urenyang Ndeze, who until his death, was a lecturer in Physics Department at the Federal University Wukari and also left other persons with varying degree of injuries
A statement signed by Chief James Chihi Baka, the President General of the association and issued to press men in Jalingo on Saturday, the group described the attack as barbarick and unacceptable act perpetrated by criminals and agents of destabilization
The President General called on security agencies to step up their mandate and fish out perpetrators of the horrible incidence and make them face the wrath of the law
“The Tiv Cultural and Social Association is deeply saddened and outraged by the dastardly act that resulted in the tragic loss of an innocent life and injury of other members of KYK who were going for a conference in Benue stage
“We strongly condemn these senseless attack and call on the governments of Taraba and Benue States to urgently collaborate and take decisive action to address the insecurity that has become rampant in these areas.
“The safety of our citizens should be the highest priority, and it is imperative that both state governments work together to restore peace and order in that axis. It is also crucial that the perpetrators of these crimes are apprehended and brought to justice to serve as a deterrent to others.
“The continuous bloodshed must end, and it is only through united and concerted efforts that we can ensure safety and prosperity of our people
“We extend our deepest condolences to the family of Mr. Urenyang Ndeze and pray for the peaceful repose of his soul, even as we pray for quick recovery of those injured during the horrible incidence
“It is our collective hope that this ugly incidence will instead, galvanize all relevant stakeholders to act swiftly and decisively to end this cycle of bloodshed.” The Statement reads in part.
The cultural association further appealed to youths, especially those in leadership positions, to prioritize responsible communication and avoid perpetuating harmful narratives on social media platforms, which are capable of exacerbating conflict in the already volatile axis//
