Taraba ACReSAL Welcomes Dr Yakubu Giwa as New Project Coordinator.

Taraba State Agro Climatic Resilience in Semi Arid Landscapes (ACReSAL) on Monday received Dr Yakubu Giwa Clement as the new State Project Coordinator, marking a significant development in the state’s efforts to tackle land degradation and climate change through the ACReSAL project.

During the handing over ceremony, Commissioner for Environment and Climate Change, Haj.Aishatu Abdul-azeez Barde commended the performance of the out-going Acting, PC, Alh Dahiru Umar for achieving alot within a short period of time.

Barde also welcomed the substantive PC, Dr Clement Yakubu Giwa and charged him to carry out his duties diligently so that Taraba ACReSAL will witness a new phase under his leadership.

The outgoing Acting PC Alh Dahiru while handing over to his successor, expressed joy that he is handing over in good faith while charging the team to give maximum support to the new PC in order for the project to achieve its goal in the state.

In his acceptance speech, the new PC, Dr Yakubu Giwa Clement
solicited for support from all members of the team while assuring them of an all inclusive leadership.

“I stand before you. deeply touched and inspired by your generous words of congratulations and encouragement. With boundless gratitude for the confidence placed in me by the State Government, and with an unswerving resolve to honour that trust. I humbly accept the appointment as the Project Coordinator of this great organization, our ACReSAL.

“As we embark on this journey, I want to reaffirm our unwavering commitment to excellence. Our mandate is clear: to restore our landscapes. fight desertification, and build climate resilience. We will approach this with dedication and diligence. ensuring that
every step we take positively impact the communities we serve.

“In delivering on this mandate. we shall ensure that relevant MDAs, NGOs, LGAS, community leaders. schools and religious institutions are involved in tree planting and adoption within their spheres of operations as no one would be left behind” He said.

Delivering a good will message, the Commissioner, Ministry of Water Resources and Aquatic Affairs Hon Daniel Ishaku called on all staff to begin this new era in the spirit of unity and put all hands on deck to achieve set goals as a tree cannot make a forest.

Worldview gathered that Dr. Yakubu Giwa Clement, who hails from Takum Local Government in Taraba State is a distinguished scholar, environmentalist, developmentalist, and policy expert.

With land degradation affecting thousands of farmers in Taraba State, the arrival of a new Project Coordinator at ACReSAL brings renewed hope for improved agricultural productivity and climate resilience in the region.

Highlights of the event include presentation of a vehicle to the new PC and the launching of other operational vehicles.
