Insecurity: Again, 6 persons murdered in Taraba

About six passengers including a driver were murdered in fresh gunmen attacks in the early hours of today August 12, along Takum-Wukari road in Taraba state
Worldview Magazine gathered that, the commercial vehicle carrying six commuters left Takum for Wukari at about 6:00Am and was ambushed by a group of armed bandits at Ugande village along Takum-Wukari road.
The chairman of Takum LGA Honorable John Ali while confirming the incident said, a commercial vehicle carrying six passengers was ambushed in the early hours of today by unknown gunmen after Mela to Sai village along Takum-Wukari road killing 5 commuters including the driver.
“In the early hours of today, a strange commercial vehicle was attacked around 6:30am by unknown gunmen who opened gun fire on the vehicle. They were ambushed after Mela to Sai. Though, am yet to receive a comprehensive report but the hearsay reports noted that, 6 persons were shot dead.
“They said, the village where the incident occurred is a village in Benue state. I have not visited the scene yet because am in Jalingo to attend a meeting regarding the Local Government autonomy. The advisory committee on the local government autonomy invited all the sixteen local government chairmen for a briefing so, I left Takum for Jalingo yesterday in the afternoon. While I was in the meeting today, I received the report about the incident.
He equally confirmed that, there was little tension in Takum arising from aggrieved groups whose family members were murdered in the criminal attack. “No controversies. there must be apprehension. You cannot kill people’s relatives and expect them to fold their hand and watch. Forget about mentioning groups that sparked the tension in Takum, everybody is not happy.
“There was little tension in Takum but is calmed now. We have asked the residents of Takum to exercise patience, the security are on top of the situation. When you say unknown gunmen and that area is a Tiv axis, what do you suspect? They actually suspected the Tiv people to be responsible for the attack because that is their area/axis,” Hon. Ali stated.
On her part, the Acting Police Public Relations Officer Taraba state Command Headquarters, DSP Gamboh Kwache confirmed the attack stating that, the Command received a report that, about 6 commuters were murdered at Ugande village along Takum-Wukari road in the early hours of today.
“This morning, we received a report that a particular commercial vehicle was ambushed at Ugande village between Taraba and Benue borders, and six passengers were shot dead although, no arrest has been made yet but efforts are on top gear to bring the perpetrators to book.”
She however, confirmed that, there was little tension in Takum following the incident but normalcy has been restored.
”there was tension inside the Takum town but normalcy has been restored because the Takum Divisional Police Officer told me that he met with the stakeholders there to ensure that, there was no breakdown of law,” she state
