Covid19: Committee working towards a testing centre.
The Technical Committee on Covid19 Taraba state has earlier stated that they are working towards getting a testing centre for the state.
The Chairman of the Committee and Commisoner of Health Taraba state, Dr Innocent Vakkai said this while briefing press men in the state concerning the 24 new cases recorded.
The Commissioner however said that the 24 cases we’re not recorded in a single day, the figure emerged from a cumulative of samples taken in the last two weeks.
Vakkai also explained that out of the samples taken for test, the ones that returned positive are very minimal.
“What it means is that, we have tested over 500 samples and we have barely 50 cases as against the samples taken. Looking at it nationally, it’s not as bad as what is obtainable in other places” he said.
Speaking on the reason the numbers are on the rise, Dr Vakkai said that that citizens have taken the covid19 guidelines for granted.
” One of the reasons we have an increase in the covid19 cases is that people no longer wear their face masks and observe social distancing, they have taken the situation for granted” he lamented.
The Commissioner then made a call to the citizens and pleased that the Pandemic is not yet over, hence they must continue to obey the guidelines if they want to remain healthy.” By protecting yourself,you protect others”, he added.
