The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has recorded a major boost as Muhammad Ma’aji, the former All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate for the Taraba State House of Assembly in the 2023 general election officially defected to the party.

Ma’aji’s defection is expected to reshape the political environment of Yorro Local Government Area, reinforcing the PDP’s influence in the areas.

Speaking at the defection ceremony on Wednesday, Ma’aji pledged his commitment to working with like minded PDP members who share his vision for the development of Yorro LGA.

Receiving the former APC Assembly candidate into the PDP, Dr. David Ishaya Kassa, former Commissioner of Agriculture, alongside key stakeholders from the local government commended Ma’aji for his thoughtful move, saying his move will further strengthen the party ahead of 2027.

Kassa said, “We welcome you whole heartedly into the PDP. The visionary leadership of His Excellency, Dr. Agbu Kefas, whose administration has been widely praised for driving development and inclusive governance across Taraba State is already attracting people into the PDP and we thank you for joining us.

“I want to thank our hard working chairman, Alhaji Abubakar Bawa, the PDP Chairman, Taraba State for playing a crucial role in influencing Ma’aji’s decision.

“This defection will further consolidate our strength as a party in Yorro ahead of future elections,” he said.
