TSU: Encomium flows as forestry & Wildlife Mangt gets youngest PhD holder

Atmosphere of excitement and jubilation has enveloped the department of forestry and Wildlife Management, Faculty of Agriculture, Taraba State University (TSU) Jalingo.

The department has within a space of 3 months, received three young lecturers who bagged PhD in different courses, with Meer Benard Bunde emerging the latest and youngest PhD holder in the department

Following Dr Benard’s arrival at the University shortly after his final PhD defense, the department was emmeshed in jubilation as most lecturers of the department could not hold their feelings as they recount the unprecedented blessings given them by God in the department within the shortest time

The Head of Department (HOD), Forestry and Wildlife Management, Faculty of Agriculture, TSU, Dr. Williams Abwage in his congratulatory message said “Congratulations to the newest Dr. We are indeed blessed this year having 3 of our able staff on board’.

He encouraged the latest Dr of Forest Biotechnology and Ecosystems Management (FBEM), Meer Benard Bunde to stay safe and deploy his wealth of knowledge to boost performances of students of the Department in particular and the entire university at large

A former HOD of the Dept. of forestry and Wildlife Management, Prof. Faith Alade, stated that God had indeed, been too faithful and gracious to their young and fast growing Department under the Headship of Dr. Williams.

She said “I have no doubt on my mind that Prof. Umar is the happiest person today. For a Department to be so blessed with 3 Ph.D holders within few months is not a small thing, I rejoice with you all”.

For the pioneer HOD, Forestry & Wildlife Dept and immediate past Dean, faculty of Agric, TSU, Prof. Umar F. Buba, the successes of the young PhD holders was an indication that the department and indeed, the University is growing speedily to be come the best in Nigeria.

He congratulated Dr Benard and the other new PhDs of the department, praying that God should bless their new positions and provide more wins

“Congratulations my brother. Your PhD comes by merit and as such, brings upliftment by God. I think, this is first of its kind in the entire extended family. May He takes you to the apex or rather, to the zenith of your destiny in Jesus name”, says one Dr. Akaangee M. Mercy, an Aunty to Dr Benard who is also an academic demagogue at the University.

Recall that the young academician, Dr Meer Benard, is born in the family of a successful primary school teacher and farmer, Late Mr. Meer Kaave.

He holds Bachelor of Forestry (B. For) and Master of Technology (M. Tech) Degrees from Federal University of Agriculture Makurdi and Modibbo Adama University of Technology Yola in 2012 and 2018 respectively.

The Dr is a renounce scholar with over 30 publications and a fellow of many professional bodies including British Ecological Society (BES), (Forestry Association of Nigeria (FAN) and Ecological Society of Nigeria (ECOSON).
