Taraba 9th Assembly processes over 176 Bills, Executive Orders so far – Speaker

The Speaker, Taraba State House of Assembly RT. Hon. Prof. Joseph Albasu Kunini has said that the 9th Assembly of Taraba State under his watch has so far, processed over 176 bills and Executive orders and transmitted same to the Executive Governor of Taraba State, Arc Darius Dickson Ishaku for his assent

The speaker made this declaration while delivering his welcome Address at a plenary in which the house received the 2023 proposed budget from the Executive Governor of Taraba State Arc Darius Dickson Ishaku recently.

The speaker who said the development was record breaking in the historical development of the state, appreciated the Executive Governor of Taraba State, Arc Darius Dickson Ishaku for the various giant strides he had made towards Rescuing the the from the shackles of under development.

also noted that it was the Seventh time the Governor was presenting Appropriation Bill to the house since he was first sworn in as the democratically elected governor of the State on 29th May 2015.

“It is interesting to note that in the almost eight years of this administration, a total of 176 Bills and Executive Orders have been processed by this Honourable House for assent by His Excellency the Executive Governor of Taraba State.

“Indeed, since the creation of Taraba State, no administration has achieved this feat. In fact, the socio-economic and political life of Taraba State will never remain the same considering the transformation experience under the “General” of “the Rescue Mission”.

“While Taraba State is “Nature’s Gift to the Nation”, Arc Darius Dickson Ishaku is “God’s” gift to Taraba State. The speaker added.

Harping on the 2023 budget, the speaker recalled that in order to conform with international best practices, a town hall meeting was convened on the 10th November, 2022 at the Jolly Nyame Stadium for the people of Taraba State to make their imputes in the 2023 Appropriation Bill.

He pointed out that the development was unprecedented in the history of budget process in Taraba State, emphasizing that the singular act had encouraged citizenship participation in the budget process.

The speaker who appealed to the incoming administration to borrow a leaf from His Excellency, Arc Darius Dickson Ishaku, noted that the budget would also be the last one the governor would present since the tenure of his Administration would end on 29th May 2023.

He called on the Honerable members of the House to braze up to look into the 2023 budget even as he assured the Governor that the House would, as usual, be diligent in processing the appropriation Bill to pass it into law in no distant time.

Meanwhile, the governor at the plenary presented a budget proposal of One Hundred and Seventy Two Billion, Seven Hundred and Thirty Four Million, Five Hundred and Thirty Seven Thousand, Four Hundred and Fifty Nine Naira (N172,734,537,459) to the state House of Assembly for the 2023 fiscal year, representing an increase of 15.32% over the 2022 budget.

The budget which comprises of N74,556,829,088 representing 43.16% as proposal for recurrent expenditure and N98,177,708,371 representing 56.8% for capital expenditure is tagged budget of fulfilment, Rescue Mission and Transmission.
