APC Youth Vanguard Urges Gov Kefas to Account for N6.5bn Spent on Foreign Trips

From Daniel Mtindiga, Jalingo

The All Progressive Congress (APC) Youth Vanguard has urged the Governor of Taraba State, Dr. Agbu Kefas, to account for the alleged N6.5 billion spent on foreign trips within his first year in office.

According to Ambassador Rikwensi Muri, the publicity secretary of the group, while seeking investment opportunities through foreign trips is essential, it is appalling that these trips have not yielded any tangible foreign investments in the state.

In response, Hon. Emmanuel Bello, Special Adviser to Gov. Agbu Kefas on Media and Digital Communication, declined to comment on the matter, stating, “I won’t comment. I don’t have to dignify everything with a comment.”

The youth group has called on the governor to direct his cabinet members to provide the people of Taraba State with the benefits of the foreign trips, ensuring transparency and accountability.

They cited last year’s report, which showed that the Taraba State Government spent over N6.5 billion on foreign trips to attract foreign investors. The group believes it is crucial to redirect their focus towards strategies that yield tangible benefits for their communities.

“The funds spent on these foreign trips could be better channelled towards local initiatives that promote growth and development within the state,” they stated.

The APC Youth Vanguard has urged the governor to critically evaluate the current approach to attracting investment and prioritize efforts that deliver real outcomes for the people of Taraba.
