Adamawa Clashes: Tsobo Community Cries out Loud, Demands Justice From Government

The Tsobo Community Development Association has cried out Loud condemning in totality the recent violence in Adamawa State, which has led to the deaths of several Tsobo people and destruction of properties.
The association in a press conference at the Nigerian Union of Journalists NUJ in Yola , demanding justice and accountability for the atrocities committed against the Tsobo community
The Chairman of the Association,Mr Nathaniel Solomon who reads the speech of the Association and said that the violence is reportedly linked to a long-standing land dispute between the Bachama and Tsobo communities in Lamurde Local Government Area of Adamawa State. The conflict has resulted in the deaths of over 12 people, with many more injured and displaced
The Chairman said according to an eyewitness the violence began on July 7, 2025, when Tsobo youths attacked Bachama- dominated villages, burning houses and killing residents. The Bachama community retaliated, leading to further violence and destruction
He said the Tsobo Community Development Association has accused the Nigerian Army of shooting and killing unarmed Tsobo women who were protesting peacefully. The military has denied the allegations, claiming that local militias were responsible for the killings
He said the governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri of the state has intervened in the conflict, brokering a fragile peace deal between the warring communities. However, the Tsobo community is demanding more, including formal apologies and reparations from the Nigerian Army and Federal Government
He said the Adamawa State House of Assembly has passed a resolution calling for an investigation into the shooting of the Tsobo women and demanding that those responsible be brought to justice
Solomon explained that the conflict has disrupted economic activities in the region, with many residents unable to access their farms or engage in trade. The situation remains tense, with security personnel deployed to the area to maintain order
He said that the Tsobo community is calling for a neutral and trustworthy assessment delegation to visit the affected communities and document the extent of the destruction. They are also demanding compensation for the victims and their families
He said that the international community has been urged to take notice of the situation and provide aid to the affected communities. The Tsobo Community Development Association is calling for peace and justice, and an end to the cycle of violence in Adamawa State
Solomon said that the situation in Adamawa State remains volatile, with the potential for further violence and instability. The government and security agencies are being urged to take decisive action to address the root causes of the conflict and ensure justice for the victims.
