GOV DARIUS PAYS TRIBUTE AS NLC CHAIRMAN IS LAID TO REST.
The Executive Governor of Taraba state, Arc. Darius Ishaku has paid tribute to the Late NLC chairman Comr. Peter Gambo as he was laid to rest.
His Excellency during the funeral revealed that he was very fond of the late Gambo and noted that his demise is a great loss to the state and the nation at large because Gambo was a humble man and it was a pleasure working with him.
The funeral service took place at the Christ Glorious Army Church and dignitaries that were present at the funeral include, the Executive Governor of Taraba state,His Excellency Arc. Darius Dickson Ishaku, The speaker, Taraba state house of assembly, Rt Hon. Albasu Kunini, Head of Service Taraba state, Mrs Suzy Nathan, Comr Ayuba Waba National President NLC, Commisoners, many other others who came from far and near to condole with the bereaved.
Worldview gathered that the Late Peter Gambo was born in December 1962 in Karim Lamido local government of Taraba state. After completing his primary and secondary education in 1977, he gained admission into the college for Nursing and Midwifery in Yola in 1982 and qualified as a registered nurse in 1985. Since then he practiced his nursing profession in different places including the specialist hospital jalingo.
The late Gambo held various state,national and religious positions and till his death, he was the General overseer of the Christ Glorious Army Church and National Labor Chairman Taraba state among other positions.
The funeral sermon was preached by the Adamawa state pastor of the living faith church, Yola, Pastor Salem Maigari who was representing the Bishop David Oyedepo.
The Preacher drew scriptures from the books of Ecclesiastes 3 and 2timothy6:4.
“Refelecting on the glorious exit of Rev Gambo we can not but celebrate the entity he has become. He is a leader,father,Uncle and different things to different people” he acknowledged.
Still speaking, he said that the fact that we are all here today means Peter Gambo lived a life like a candle in the wind. Looking at the footprints on the sands of time, Rev Gambo has served this generation well, he added.
“One of the blessings of God to man is Time. Because inside time,lies all the seasons of our lives. It is only in time that you can be all you are supposed to be. After time its time to give account. Time is a workshop for man not a show room. Gambo has worked hard in the workshop and now is taking his rest”, the Preacher said.
The CAN Chairman Rev Jirapye who spoke on behalf of the CAN said that “we have lost a general,a friend, someone who was committed to making everyone around him better. Human words cannot console us at this moment but I pray that the Lord will comfort and strengthen us and also grant safe journey mercies to all those that came from different places”
In the same spirit, the President of the fellowship of Christian Nurses, Joshua Maigandi , expressed his grief over the demise of the Reverend. He revealed that Peter remained a dedicated member of the fellowship for over three decades. “”FCN Nigeria is indeed humbled by the disposition of their brother towards the fellowship and the world at at large. Though his death was traumatic, we are consoled knowing that he has lived a fulfilled life and is lying in the bossom of the Lord”, he noted.
Dr innocent Vakkai on his part said that the news of Gambo’s demise came to him as a shock. “He was dedicated to fighting for the cause of nurses in the state. We are consoled in the health sector because we know that Rev Gambo is resting with the Lord”. He prayed that God will grant the bereaved the fortitude to bear the loss.
Pastor Gift who spoke on behalf of the Church explained that they thank God for everything. ” I knew Rev Peter 30 years ago. He is Godly and generous man. He was so generous that he dished out his riches to everyone who needed it. He is a father indeed and will forever be remembered. He was a bug time farmer but all that was for the widows. As a medical worker, anytime you call on him, he will be available. He has no sentiments at all” she explained.
The National Chairman of the NLC,Comr. Ayuba Waba also conveyed his condolence to the family and church. He revealed that Gambo was one leader who believed that there’s leadership with the fear of God. He also mentioned that Gambo left a wonderful legacy that will never be forgotten. “There’s a time to like and die,in between is a time to serve humanity” he added.
In an interview with our correspondent, the Acting Chairman,NLC, Comr. Saidu Mohammed noted that this was a great loss to the Congress and assured that they will build on the legacy the Chairman left behind. “”The late chairman was very humble, generous, and he was a genius. On my part as an acting Chairman of the Congress, I will ensure we continue the team work and pick up from where he stopped” he told our reporter.
The remains of Gambo was finally laid to rest in Jalingo and he is survived by four children, his wife and other relatives.
