Taraba ACReSAL flag-off capacity building work shop on GRM

The Taraba State Agro Climatic Resilience in Semi-Arid Landscapes (ACReSAL),has flagged off a 2-Day capacity building and community Sensitization work shop on Grievance Redress Mechanism (GRM) in Jalingo, the State Capital.
The work shop which drew participants across the sixteen Local Government Areas of the State including Community Stakeholders and Youths/Women Leaders, aims at enhancing their grievances management skills in line with the ACReSAL Project.
Speaking during the opening session, the State Project Coordinator Dr. Yakubu Clement Giwa, welcomed participants and tasked them on good conduct and cooperation during and after the training.

He noted that, the training was important and long overdue adding that,it was going to serve as a pernacea to the full implementation of ACReSAL’s Resettlement Action Plan (RAP) activities.
“Without properly addressing GRM issues, ACReSAL will not be able to achieve its mandate successfully. We want to achieve our mandate in an environment that is peaceful,leaving behind landmark achievements in our communities and the State.
“At the end of this training,we shall be distributing some tools to you so you can put them to use effectively. ACReSAL is technologically driven and with these equipment, you will be able to collect data that we can pass to our Headquarters so that they will know that we are doing the right thing,” he stated.
Me while,Chief Mustapha Abubakar, Mr Emmanuel Usman and Mrs Philomena Yavala who spoke on behalf of the participants, commended ACReSAL Team for hosting such a resounding learning oriented work shop to equip them with grievance redress mechanisms, adding that, the work shop was not only impactful on them alone but also their various communities.
They however, pledged to take the message and knowledge gained during the training to their respective communities/Local Government Areas to enhance peaceful coexistence while, calling on Government to ensure sustainability of the ACReSAL Project.
GRMs are organizational systems and resources established by project implementers to receive and address concerns about the impact of their policies, programs and operations.
It serves to identify and resolve implementation problems in a timely manner while also identifying systematic issues.
