Troops of the 6 Brigade Nigerian Army/Sector 3 Operation Whirl Stroke (OPWS) have recorded another success in their ongoing clearance operation codenamed Operation Lafiya Nakowa, aimed at flushing out terrorists, bandits, and other criminal elements from Taraba State.

According to a statement by the Acting Assistant Director, Army Public Relations, Lieutenant Umar Muhammad, the latest feat was achieved on October 14, 2025, when troops deployed at Tapga Ngasawa village in Dampar District of Ibi Local Government Area acted on credible intelligence regarding the presence of suspected terrorists operating around Badekoshi, Fajul, Kurmi, and Dampar villages.

The troops swiftly launched clearance operations in the identified areas. During the operation at Badekoshi, contact was made with the terrorists, who fled toward Fajul village near the forest after coming under heavy fire from the soldiers.

The troops pursued the fleeing criminals, forcing them to abandon their hideouts and retreat deeper into the forest.

A subsequent search and exploitation of the area led to the recovery of One AK-47 rifle, one AK-47 magazine, one round of 7.62mm special ammunition, five rounds of blank ammunition, two fragmental jackets, two military camouflage uniforms, one Jincheng motorcycle suspected to have been stolen during an earlier attack on Tapga village.

The Commander, 6 Brigade Nigerian Army/Sector 3 OPWS, Brigadier General Kingsley Chidiebere Uwa, commended the troops for their professionalism and resilience.

He urged them to sustain the momentum until all criminal elements are completely flushed out of Taraba State.

The Nigerian Army reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring the safety and security of law-abiding citizens and pledged continued collaboration with other security agencies and local communities to achieve lasting peace in the state.
