Taraba: Mile six Youth Development Association gets head office

Mile Six Youth Development Association (MYDA), a developmental minded association of all the youths residing at Mile Six Jalingo, the Taraba State capital, has opened a head office opposite Umaru Feeling Station, mile Six, to enable the association effectively coordinate the affairs and activities of youths in the area.

Speaking at a ceremony organized to mark the official opening of the office in Jalingo, the President of the association, Mr. Isaac Mago said the association had deemed it feet to have its head office owing to the astronomical increase of youths as well as continuous growth and expansion of the area.

He disclosed that the association had wanted to build its permanent office but was constrained by lack of fund and so had decided to rent the building to serve as a temporal Administrative Office of the association.

Appreciating the youths of the area for their commitment and resilience towards maintaining unity and peaceful coexistence in the area, the president encouraged them never to give up or allow themselves to be used by criminals element at anytime to pollute the area.

He charged youths to avoid hard drugs, evil associations and all forms of criminal activities but engaged in profitable ventures such as trading and handworks in order to improve their personal lives and their families.

Mr. Isaac congratulated Dr. Agbu Kefas on his emergence and subsequent inauguration as the Executive Governor of Taraba State, expressing confidence that as one of the youths born and brought up in the state, the governor had known the challenges of youths in the state and would surely tackled them.

“As youths, we have so many challenges dealing with us but we are so much happy now because one of us, Dr Agbu Kefas has emerged as the Executive Governor of our dear state. We have confidence in him. We are going to give him our full support because he has shown us that he is ready and willing to take us out of these challenges”. He added.

In a goodwill message at the occasion, the Legal Adviser of the Association, Barr Peter Audu expressed satisfaction with the manner and conduct of youth in the area under the leadership of President Isaac and his Exco members.

He However, charged the association to intensify efforts towards mobilizing and sensitizing other youths in the area to avoid all forms of moral decadence and join them to find ways of improving their social lives.

“You must be united in fighting crime. Set up committees among you to monitor the activities of some bad eggs among you to curb criminality in this area and above all, you must mobilize and create avenues to sensitize youth to avoid idleness.

“You must bring up programs that will gear towards empowering youths at all times. When you are doing these things faithfully, am sure, the present governor who is also a youth like you, will never forsake you”. He stated.

In their separate speeches, the representative of Dekerchi Mile six, the Vice President of the association, Mr Alpha Anthony and the immediate past president who is currently the association’s chairman of Huwe District, Mr Bulus Sabastine all advised youth to be security conscious at all times in order to fish out the bad eggs among them who some times give them bad name

They all expressed confidence in the leadership of the association and pledged their unalloyed support to enable the area remain peaceful and safe have for all residence.
