Taraba Government Declares State of Emergency on Infrastructure, Human Services

The Taraba State Government has declared a state of emergency to address critical gaps in infrastructure and human services across the state, citing threats to public health, safety, and general welfare.
A statement signed by the Secretary to the Government of the State, Barr Gebon Kataps disclosed that Governor Agbu Kefas approved the measure following rising concerns over deteriorating infrastructure and inadequate service delivery that require urgent and coordinated action.
According to the statement, the governor has constituted an Emergency Implementation Committee (EIC), which will oversee and coordinate all measures taken during the emergency period.
The state of emergency is to remain in force for an initial period of 24 months as specified in the statement.
The committee is to be chaired by Hon. Danladi Baido Tijos, with key members drawn from strategic ministries and agencies.
Members include, the Attorney-General/Commissioner for Justice, Commissioners for Health, Basic Education, Water Resources, Agriculture and Food Security, Finance, Budget and Economic Planning, Energy and Economic Development, Environment and Climate Change, Works and Infrastructure
Others are the Chairman, State Planning Commission, State Auditor-General and Director-General, Bureau for Public Procurement.
The statement noted that the committee will coordinate rapid interventions across critical sectors to restore efficiency in service delivery and boost infrastructural development statewide.
