NDE Boss urges Government to Support Youth Empowerment programmes

By Sarah Mudwa

The Director/State Coordinator, National Directorate of Employment, Taraba State Mr. Chris Bamsida has urged Taraba State Government to support NDE in the fight against unemployment in the state.

He made the call during an interface with Journalists in Jalingo, the Taraba State Capital.

Mr Chris stated that Taraba State Government has not yet keyed into youth empowerment programmes organized by NDE to help reduce unemployment in the state.

He maintained that the fight against unemployment is not a one organization affair, adding that there must be synergy and collaboration between Government and Organizations.

“Unemployment is high, NDE alone cannot do it, and so the need for partnership with government, individuals, organization and NGOs to address the challenge is paramount, “he said.

He further discouraged total dependence on white collar jobs and urged youths and the unemployed to acquire skills to be able to cope with emerging challenges.

“Barely six months in Taraba, i have massively empowered youths through skills acquisition trainings in different fields as part of the implementation of the Ninety Three Thousand Seven hundred and thirty one Job initiative.

“I therefore urge Youths and the unemployed to be self reliance, and patronize NDE to learn skills because that no matter your certificate you may still be jobless”,he said.
