By Worldview Magazine

The body of a three year old girl has been found in an abandoned building behind RCCN Magami area in Jalingo with certain body parts missing.

The child identified as Mercy Christopher was reported missing by the parents on Thursday after they couldn’t find her in the house and the entire area.

The father, Mr Christopher Adamu who spoke to our Correspondent said Mercy was a peaceful child who loves to play, he is still shocked that someone would do that to her.

“On Thursday after school they came to me with her elderly siblings before they went home. When I came home with food for them to eat I asked them to calk their younger sister, that was when they discovered she wasn’t outside where they last saw her.

“I asked them to check the neighbor’s house which they did and she wasn’t there. That was when we got up and began to search the entire area till night. When we couldn’t find her I reported to the Vigilante, the Jalingo division and the ‘Mai anguwa’

“There was no news of her the whole of the weekend till Tuesday when her body was found with her head cut off and her private part too and dumped in an abandoned building” he said.

Meanwhile the Vigilante have arrested one Abdulrashid who is neighbor to the family. Abdulrashid had told the mother of the deceased to give him money earlier so he would find her child.

The parents relayed the conversation to the vigilante and the guy was taken in for questioning after his apartment was searched and some fetish items where discovered.

The Jalingo Commander of the Vigilante, Mr Munir Bello confirmed the incidence and told our reporter that the suspect has been handed over to police though he has not confessed to the crimes in question.

Munir called on the general public to be mindful of the people who relate with their children especially at home. He also enjoined landlords to do a little background check before giving out rooms to people in order to avoid bringing bad eggs into the society.

The family on Wednesday laid their daughter to rest and are calling on security agencies to get to the root of the matter and bring the perpetrator to book.

Also, the Ward head of the Magami Quarters Mallam Abdullahi Sabo sympathized with the family and advised the residents of the area to remain security conscious and report any suspicious person to the appropriate authorities in order to avoid future occurrences.

He also called on the government and security agencies to look into the matter and get justice for the family of the slain child.

Worldview gathered that the suspect is in police custody and is yet to confess to the crimes as at the time this report was filed.
