Army Nabs Suspected Terrorist in Taraba

Troops of 6 Brigade Nigerian Army, operating under Sector 3 of Operation Whirl Stroke, have arrested a notorious suspected terrorist in Wukari Local Government Area of Taraba State.
The arrest is part of ongoing efforts by troops under Operation LAFIYA NAKOWA to deny terrorists and other criminal elements freedom of action in Taraba and beyond.
A statement signed by the acting Ass. Director Army Public Relations Officer, Lt Umar Mohammed and made available to Worldview reveals that the operation, carried out on 18 September 2025 at Takum Junction, followed credible and actionable intelligence.
“Acting swiftly on the intelligence report, the vigilant troops tracked and intercepted the suspect at Takum Junction, Wukari Local Government Area of Taraba State, where 35-year-old Saawuan Wuaiyolna was apprehended with a motorcycle.
“Preliminary investigation revealed that the suspect hails from Ateryange community in Ukum Local Government Area of Benue State and is a high-profile member of the notorious bandits’ gang led by the wanted criminal, Akiki Utivi, popularly known as “Full Fire.”
“Findings further indicate that the suspect infiltrated Wukari to monitor troop activities with the intent of facilitating coordinated attacks on innocent citizens.” Part of the statement reads.
Commander of 6 Brigade, Brigadier General Kingsley Chidiebere Uwa, who commended the troops for their swift action reaffirmed the Brigade’s commitment to peace and security in its area of responsibility.
Uwa urged residents to continue supporting the military by providing timely and credible information
