Troops of 6 Brigade, Nigerian Army/Sector 3 Operation Whirl Stroke (OPWS), have sustained the ongoing security momentum in Taraba State with the successful rescue of a kidnapped woman in Takum Local Government Area.

According to a statement by the Acting Assistant Director, Army Public Relations, Lt Mohammed Umar, the rescue operation was carried out on Saturday, 13 December 2025, at Torikegha Village in Chanchanji Ward, following credible intelligence on the abduction of a woman within the area. Acting on the information, troops deployed at Kufai Amadu swiftly mobilised and advanced to the community.

Investigations revealed that the victim, Mrs Iloda Ayinba, a resident of Torikegha Village, was abducted by suspected criminal elements believed to be herdsmen while on her way to her farm. Troops immediately launched an aggressive search-and-rescue operation, tactically tracing the kidnappers’ withdrawal routes across the surrounding terrain.

The operation extended to the power line corridor linking Benue and Taraba States, where sustained pressure from the advancing troops forced the kidnappers to abandon the victim in the bush and flee.

Mrs Ayinba was rescued unharmed and subsequently handed over to village heads, amid appreciation from members of the community for the timely intervention of the Nigerian Army.

Reacting to the development, the Commander, 6 Brigade Nigerian Army/Sector 3 OPWS, Brigadier General Kingsley Chidiebere Uwa, reaffirmed the Brigade’s commitment to safeguarding the lives and property of law-abiding citizens across Taraba State.

He assured residents that the Brigade would continue to sustain robust security operations to ensure a peaceful and secure Yuletide season, as well as enable farmers to carry out their activities without fear.

The Commander also called on members of the public to continue supporting the Nigerian Army with timely and credible information, noting that such cooperation remains vital to the success of ongoing security operations in the state.
