Taraba rector cautions students, staff against fake news

The Rector, Taraba State Polytechnic Suntai, Dr. Ayuba Ibrahim Abarshi has cautioned Nigerian students, particularly those of the Polytechnic to stay away from spreading fake news and indulging in other social vices that would destroy their destinies.

The Rector gave this cautioned while speaking at the occasion of the 2022/2023 students’ Orientation and matriculation ceremony held at Jalingo Campus of the Polytechnic Thursday.

He noted that when students indulge in such unwholesome vices, they unnecessarily exposed themselves to various dangerous consequences that might destroy their academic careers and sometimes even consumed their lives.

“I want to let you know that you must have to shun hate speech, fake news, rumor mongering, absenteeism, negligence of duties, extortion, tribal sentiment, bitterness and branding the Polytechnic bad to the outside world.

“For the students particularly, it is imperative to let you know that as you become bonafide students of Taraba State Polytechnic, be aware that the institution has zero tolerance for Cultism, Examination malpractice, Rape, Fighting, Indecent dressing, Bullying, Stealing,Tribalism, Religious intolerance, Riot and Illegal protest among others”. He reiterated.

Dr. Ayuba further charged the staff members to eschew laziness and contribute maximally towards achieving the goal of technological and moral upgrading of the old and newly admitted students.

While congratulating the matriculated students for passing through all the required processes to gain admission into the institution, the Rector noted that they had found themselves in a highly reputable institution known for positive surprises and they would gain alot if they embrace discipline and conduct themselves.

He appreciated the Executive Governor of Taraba State, Arc Darius Dickson Ishaku for all the supports he had rendered to the Polytechnic through Ministry of Tertiary Education, Governing Council and other related agencies.

Dr. Ayuba congratulated the Taraba State Governor-Elect, Lt. Col Kefas D. Agbu (rtd) and the other elected leaders of the state in the just concluded elections and expressed anticipation of their supports for the Polytechnic.

Meanwhile, a total number of 3,400 students were matriculated to study across the various faculties of the institution.
