University don urges Taraba State Government to strengthen Tiv Traditional stools

A university don, Professor Dahida Philip of the Department of Public Administration, University of Abuja, has urged the Taraba State Government to recognize the “Ter Bali” stool and other components of Tiv traditional leadership to make it more functional and result- oriented in Taraba State
Prof Dahida made this appeal while presenting a paper titled “titled 25 years of enduring leadership at the 25th anniversary of the Tiv traditional leadership in Bali LGA of Taraba State
Prof Dahida who was represented by the leader of Tiv in Zamfara State, Dr Joels Terkuram stressed the crucial role of leaders, especially traditional leaders in peace building, emphasizing that, when the Tiv traditional tools in the state are given appropriate recognition, it would go along way to help in creating mutual interrelationship between them and other ethnic groups there by bringing sustainable peace in the state
He lauded the Tiv people of Bali for mobilizing and encouraging the Tiv people in participating in democratic processess that produced various democratic leaders since the return to democracy in 1999
He however, said more efforts are required to make the Tiv traditional institution more robust, reiterating that the Taraba State Government would do the Tiv ethnic group well by recognizing the traditional stools of the Tiv people
“The Tiv traditional leadership in Bali LGA has achieved great milestones in the last 25 years by fostering peace and stability, sustaining an enduring mutual interrelationship with other ethnic groups, mobilizing and encouraging the Tiv people in participating in democratic process that produced various democratic leaders since the return to our emerging democracy in 1999 among others
Meanwhile, the Jubilee celebration which commenced on Thursday, is expected to wined up today, Saturday, 30th November, 2024 with presentation of awards, book launch, crowning of Face of Tiv known as “Kumashe U Tiv” and conferment of traditional titles on distinguised personalities among other things
