Taraba:Lau LG Council gets new boss

It is another milestone in the history of Lau Local Government as the new Care taker Committee Chairman (CTC), Honourable Nigeria Ezra Jatau, assumed office.

The handing over ceremony was held on 3rd April, 2023 at the Chairman’s office in the Local Government Secretariat Lau.

Hon. Ezra’s appointment came after the sacking of the former Care taker Committee Chairman, Rev. Dr. Daniel Zading on 15/02/2023 by the Executive Governor of Taraba State, His Excellency Arch. Darius Dickson Ishaku in Jalingo.

Addressing the crowd before the handing over ceremony, the outgoing CTC chairman, who was ably represented by the Head of the Local Government Administration (HOLGA) Mal Idris Gambo Suleiman, stated that the outgoing Chairman was unavoidably absent due to some reasons beyond his control.

“The former chairman wished to be here but unfortunately some commitments did not allow him so, he gave me the mandate of a temporary leadership to come and hand over the mantle of leadership to his successor.

“He said I should sincerely apologise on his behalf for not being here himself, he is wishing the incoming chairman well and prays for his successful tenure in office. He said if there is anything that he demands his attention, Mr. Chairman should not hesitate to call as he is ever willing to partner with him in order for the incoming Chairman to succeed”

The incoming Chairman returned all the glory to God Almighty, and thanked the Executive Governor of Taraba State, His Excellency Arch. Darius Dickson Ishaku, for finding him worthy of the position.

He as well appreciated the contribution of his boss, Hon. Irimiya Ibrahim Hammanjulde and thanked all the people present at the occasion for their time and called on them to join hands with him in the building of the Council.

“My heart is full of joy today, I want to thank the Executive Governor of Taraba State, His Excellency Arch. Darius Dickson Ishaku, for finding me worthy of this position also I want to extend this goodwill to my boss, Hon. Irimiya Ibrahim Hammanjulde.

I appreciate everyone that is here to share with me this memorable occasion, I prayed for God Almighty to return each and everyone safe back home. I will give my main speech ok my swearing in but I am calling on the out going chairman Hon. Daniel Zading, to be supportive, because when he was on the power I supported him with all my strength, so, I wanted him to replicate such to me”

Accordingly, the management of the Local Government, friends and well wishers as well as eminent personalities of Lau Local Government teamed up in mass to grace the occasion and welcome their son.

In his goodwill message, the Councilor representing the good people of Mayo Lope ward, Hon. Lazarus K. Urbanus, speaking on behalf of the legislative Council commended the State Governor His Excellency Arch. Darius Dickson Ishaku for appointing Hon. Nigeria Ezra as care taker Chairman of the Council and appreciates the people that comes to grace the occasion.

He called on people to support the Care taker Chairman and urged the incoming Chairman to carry everyone along irrespective of party affiliation, tribes or religion.

The management team was led by the Director Personnel Management (DPM) Mal. Sa’ad Bose, who on behalf of the directors congratulated the Chairman and promised to work hand in hand with him and finally wishes the chairman a successful tenure in office.

Worldview reports that score of groups ranging from labour unions, political parties, women associations, cultural groups, religion leaders and others, all send their representative with different goodwill messages to the incoming chairman.

Meanwhile, the Hon. Chairman had earlier in a company of well-wishers payed a courtesy call to Hakimin Lau, Alh. Abdullahi Ibrahim, at his palace in Lau, where the chairman appreciated the contribution of the royal father to the development of Lau and asked him for the royal blessings and synergy with the traditional rulers in the council to fostering development in the areas.

In his response, the Royal father who was also the former chairman of the Council, thanked Hon. Nigeria Ezra for remembering them and said it was the first time that the chairman who is about taking office come to him for the Royal blessings.

The Royal Father promised to work with the incoming chairman in all capacities needed and urged him to carry everybody along and treats them equally, he prayed for Almighty Allah to guide and protect him.

The chairman and his entourage also conveyed their deepest sympathy to the bereaved families of late Alh. Ibrahim Ali, the second Hakimi in Lau who died from a brief illness last week in Bauchi, after exchanging condolences with the families.
