TARABA:LAU CTC CHAIR SWEARES-IN NEW COUNCILLORS

The Caretaker Committee Chairman of Lau Local Government Council, Taraba State, Hon. Nigeria Ezra Jatau, has sworn in five newly appointed councillors who were recently appointed by the Executive Governor of the state Arc Darius Dickson Ishaku.

Those sworn in were Hon. Gaji Jushua for Danadda ward, Hon. Nasiru Bako for Abbare war, Hon. Jellason B. Bayero for Jimlari ward, Hon. Elkana Dabang Garin Magaji and Hon. Yamila Edward Garin Digi.

Addressing the councillors at the Local Government Headquarter shortly after the oath of office was administered on them by the Magistrate Court judge in Lau, Justice Joyce Peter, the Caretaker Chairman, enjoined them to be good ambassadors of their various wards and to also work hard to justify the confidence repose on them through making laws that would impact positively on the lives of the people.

Hon. Ezra further expressed gratitude to the Executive Governor of Taraba State, His Excellency Arch. Darius Dickson Ishaku for giving him the opportunity to lead the people of the Local Government.

He equally appreciated all the Stakeholders in the Local Government especially the Honerable Commissioner of Works, Hon. Irimiya Ibrahim Hammanjulde whom he called his boss, for their various supports and encouragements, pledging that he will continue to work with them for the success of his administration.

The CTC chairman called on the people of the Local Government to embrace peace and remain their brothers keepers so that together, they would attract all the dividends of democracy in the area for the good of everyone.

In his words; “Lau Local Government is for all of us. Let us leave in peace with one another.” The time of electioneering campaign is over. We now have to do away with our differences and focus on good governance to ensure that our people enjoys more dividends of democracy in the Local Government Area”.

Responding on behalf of the Councillors, the councilor representing Mayo Lope ward, Hon. Lazarus Urbanus, commended the Executive Governor of Taraba State, Arch. Darius Dickson Ishaku for the good work his administration is doing in the state and pledged that they would do their best to justify the confidence reposed in them.

In his speech at the occasion, the special guest of honour, Commissioner for Works, Hon. Irimiya Ibrahim Hammanjulde tasked the newly inaugurated councillors on delivering impactful grassroots governance.

The commissioner who also brought the goodwill message of the Taraba State governor, Arch. Darius Dickson Ishaku, to the newly appointed legislators and the entire good people of Lau Local Government Said, the governor was looking forward to seen that the new councillors continue to work in harmony for the progress of the Local Government area.

He commended the people for voting PDP overwhelmingly for all the seats in the just concluded election and urged the new leaders to work in unity, emphasizing that it was only when they work in unity that their subjects would experience more dividends of democracy.

The Commissioner further encouraged the people of Lau to extend the same support to gave Governor Darius Dickson Ishaku whom they elected twice to the newly elected Governor, Col. Agbu Kefas (Rtd), the Senator elect, Reps, and State House of Assembly members respectively, assuring them that PDP would never let them down.

Recall that the tenure of the appointed caretaker council members has elapsed a month ago, but some among the councilors were given additional mandate to continue as their tenure was extended while five others were dropped. Lau Local Government Council has a total number of ten councilors each representing a ward.
