In what many have described as a historic moment for Taraba politics, two long-time political rivals, Hon. Hammanjulde Garba Garba chede and Hon. Abdulsalami Gambo Mubarak, have finally put aside their differences and reunited for the greater good of their party, the All Progressives Congress (APC), and their supporters.
Both men once represented Bali/Gassol Federal Constituency at the National Assembly. For a long time, their political rivalry caused a lot of division in the APC and among their supporters. But during a Sallah celebration held in Bali town by Hon. Mubarak, the two leaders stood together, smiled, shook hands, and announced that they are now united again.
Speaking at the event, Hon. Garbachede said, “The news you’ve been hearing is true. We have settled everything. We are now working together as one family. This is a fresh start for all of us in APC.”
He also called on everyone to support Hon. Mubarak in his plan to contest for the Senate seat in Taraba Central in the 2027 election. “Let’s all support Mubarak. He is ready to serve us well, and we stand by him,” Garbachede said.
Hon. Mubarak thanked everyone who came and said that unity and peace are more important than past fights. “Politics is not about hatred. It’s about helping the people. Today we are showing that friendship and respect are stronger than division,” he said.
Many top APC members and community leaders were present at the event. They include former Senator Ibrahim Goje Gassol, who praised Hon. Mubarak for helping people through his humanitarian work. Others who attended include the APC State Woman Leader Hannatu Ali, NURTW Chairman Bali branch Alhaji Abubakar Makzi, and the Sarkin Fulani of Bali, Alhaji Haruna Shagari.
One of the major highlights of the day was the giving of cash gifts to all invited guests and APC ward leaders from the five local government areas that make up Taraba Central Senatorial Districts
People who attended the event said they were happy to see the two leaders unite again. Many believe this new friendship will help make APC stronger and ready to win elections in Taraba come 2027.
