Taraba Health Ministry holds workshop on 2026 annual operational plan harmonization

The Taraba State Ministry of Health has organized a workshop on the twenty-twenty-six Annual Operational Plan harmonisation to align the budget with the Nigeria Health Sector’s Strategic Blue Print guidelines.

The workshop which took place at the Safana Hotel, Yola Adamawa State, assembled key stakeholders including , development partners, representatives from the state assembly and relevant units of the ministry to harmonize the Ministry’s 2026 budget.

As part of efforts towards strengthening the state’s health system and improving health service output for the people of Taraba State, the Taraba State Ministry of Health is currently developing the 2026 Annual Operational Plan, that aligns with the Nigeria’s Health Sector Strategic Blueprint HSSB 2023-2027.

While speaking during the program,the Honorable Commissioner for Health, Doctor Bodiya Buma,who was represented by the permanent secretary, Chufor Harmony, stated that the workshop was crucial in implementing health interventions in the state.

He noted that the workshop was part of the Federal Ministry of Health’s sector-wide initiative, which seeks to integrate budgets from all units into a single document to enhance the implementation of health plans design by different states of the Federation for effective health system.

Discussing the benefits of the plan for the health sector in the state, the Executive Secretary, Taraba State Primary Healthcare Development Agency, Dr. Tukura Nuhu, highlighted the significance of the sector-wide approach, stating that the post harmonisation will mean the health sector having one plan, one budget, one report, and one conversation.

He urged the participants to be meticulous in the budget preparation, stressing that outstanding performance, combined with the release of funds, will lead to substantial accomplishments in the health sector that is consistent with national standards.

The Vice Chairman of the Taraba State House of Assembly’s Committee on Appropriation, Budget and Planning, Happy Shonruba, noted that Governor Agbu Kefas’ previous budget allocation to the health sector signifies commitment and resolve to strengthen the health sector system in the state.

He expressed optimism of the Governor’s commitment to an enhanced 2026 budget allocations for all Ministries in the state.

In their goodwill messages, the representatives of UNICEF, Taraba State office of the Helen Keller International, Achieving Health Nigeria Taraba and a host of other development partners applauded the state government and primary healthcare for working tirelessly to drive reforms in the state.
