Rerun Election:Returning Officer, Other INEC Staff Held At Gunpoint In Taraba

A returning officer of the Independent National Electoral Commission INEC deploy for the rerun of the Ussa, Takum, Donga federal constituency rerun election in Taraba state has been allegedly held at gunpoint in Ussa local area of the state.
The returning officer by name Paul Songden who was at Lissam II, one of the pooling units where the rerun was scheduled to be conducted on the 15th of April 2023 has been held at gunpoint to bypass the BVAS accreditation according a source who spoke to our correspondent from the area.
Worldview reliably gathered all other sixty four pooling units where the rerun was scheduled to take place have since concluded the exercise and have successfully taken the result to Takum, the zonal collation center except that of Lissam II from Ussa local government area.
“After conducting accreditation of voters at Lissam II, other INEC staff have been held hostage by gun wielding youths in Ussa.
“The youths want the officials to accept and enter results in favor of a particular candidate for House of Representatives which the INEC staff refused that is against provisions of the electoral act and INEC guidelines.
“By not accepting the wish of the armed youths, immediately after accreditation records,
agents of other political parties were chased out of Lissam while the heavily armed youths had a field day at polling units.
