Jalingo Council Boss flags off tree planting campaign.

The Chairman, Jalingo Local Government Council, Honorable Aminu Jauro Hassan today, flagged off a tree planting campaign in Howai Primary School, Jalingo the Taraba state capital.

Speaking at the flag off ceremony, the Vice Chairman of Jalingo Local Government Council, Honorable Peter Nathaniel Ntani who represented the Chairman disclosed that, the programme is aimed at fighting deforestation to enable a safer environment.

He commended Gov. Agbu Kefas for his good initiatives and policies especially those that are targeted at ensuring a more greener and safe environment.

He reiterated the commitment of Jalingo LGA in ensuring that, the tree planting exercise gets to all public Primary schools as well as other strategic areas within the LG, calling on all to key into the programme to promote afforestation thereby creating a more conducive environment.

“I commend His Excellency, Dr. Agbu Kefas for his tireless efforts towards developing and uplifting all sectors of the state through his five finger agenda of moving Taraba forward. I urge you all to support the tree planting exercise and His Excellency’s core agenda to develop our state,” he stated.

Earlier in his remark, the Director, Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security Alh. Adamu Isa Dokain, noted that the tree planting exercise was necessary as there are no enough trees in Jalingo and other parts of the state.

He expressed the readiness of the Ministry to support the exercise to it conclusion and called on the concern authorities to ensure proper care and sustainability of the trees.

“We are ready to support the exercise thereby making available, trees. I therefore call on school authorities and other concerned individuals to take proper care of the trees.”

Similarly, the Galadima of Muri, HRH Alh. Tukur Abbas Tukur, appreciated Gov. Kefas and Honorable Aminu Hassan Jauro for embarking on such a productive and beneficial campaign aimed at addressing some environmental challenges thereby enhancing a safer environment.

He equally called on Jalingo residents and Tarabans to embrace the exercise by doing the needful to sustain the trees.
