Commissioners of Social Justice, Education attend Ussa students youth summit

The Honorable Commissioner Taraba State Ministry of Social Justice and Re-integration, Dr. Filister Irarimam Musa and her counterpart Commissioner of Education, Dr Augustina Godwin, attended the Ussa students youth Summit which took place at Duvet Glitters, Jalingo the Taraba State capital.

The Summit which was themed: Politics and cultural survival, the role of students brought from far and wide, high profile personalities and top Government functionaries from all works of life including Student union leaders.

Dr. Filister while speaking at the event, appreciated the leadership of Ussa students for putting forth such milestone event and tasked them to embrace and advocate for peace, unity and policies that are capable of driving home sustainable development for the common good of all adding that, their roles in building a better society transcends beyond lecture halls.

“Esteemed guest, ladies and gentlemen, it is an honor to be in your midst today. I commend the organizers of this great event for bringing us together under this event themed: Politics and cultural survival, the role of students,” she said.

She maintained that the event is timely especially at this crucial time that politics and cultural interplays have taken center stage.” Today, we stand at a critical stage in our society where the interplay of politics and culture is overwhelming, “she noted.

She emphasized that the voices of students and youths matter a lot in politics and decision making even as she charge them to engage in discussions that are capable of driving home unity, peace and sustainable development.

Similarly, Honorable Dr Augustina Godwin,commended the Ussa students leadership for such initiative and sued for more of such programs.”I urge you to continue creating such programs to further guide the younger ones.i call on all and sundry to always support such initiatives,” she stated.

She however, reiterated the commitment of the state government under the leadership of His Excellency, Dr Agbu Kefas in sustaining the free Education policy and also creating more programs and policies that have direct bearing on Tarabans especially,youths.

The president of Ussa students association, Comrade Andebutop Yakubu G.earlier in his remark, thanked God for making the Summit a success. He equally commended the dignatries for gracing the event despite their slimed schedules.

He disclosed that, the purpose of the event was to create awareness to Ussa students across all higher institutions of learning within and beyond Taraba State on the need for peace, unity, social media and its effects, importance of education in the contemporary society as well as the effects of substance abuse on youths in the society.

“I thank God for making this event a success. I equally appreciate you all for gracing this event. Your presence have really added great value to this event.

“The purpose of this event is to create awareness to our students across all institutions of higher learning within and beyond Taraba on the need for Unity, peace, importance of education and development,”he stated.

Comrade Ande however, disclosed the achievements made by his administration to include; Registering of JAMB for some Ussa students, sharing of writing materials and the successful hosting of the Ussa students youth Summit among others.

He further enumerated some challenges facing the association to include, lack of funds, support among others. He finally appreciated everyone who stood by him during his administration and called on them to continue supporting the association even after his time.

In his remarks, the patron of Ussa students association appreciated the dignatries for making the event colorful with their presence despite their tight schedules.

He equally appreciated student union leaders and the leadership of the Ussa students association for ensuring that the event was a success.

He finally enjoined the students and participants to tap from the unique presentations made at the summit for personal growth and societal development.

High points of the Summit was, Paper presentations, entertainment and presentation of awards and appointment letters to deserving personalities.
