Breaking: CP orders arrest of pastor, SDP Guber Candidate, church leaders in Taraba
The Taraba State Commissioner of Police, CP Abimbola A. Sokoya has today, ordered the arrest of pastor, the Taraba State Social Democratic Party Candidate, Hon. Danladi Baido and some church leaders of the Universal Reform Church of Christ URCC, fondly known as NKST, Jalingo Consistory, in Jalingo, the Taraba State Capital.
Some members of the church who confirmed the arrest said the people were in the church when the SDP candidate visited the church to solicit prayers from the pastor and leaders of the church to enable him succeed in the forth coming election when a team of Police officers combed the church and whisked them away.
The members, numbering 15 were conveyed in three Hilux van in an operation led by an ASP who said he was acting on the directives of the Commissioner of Police in the state.
Though details of the CP’s decision as to what happened to those arrested is yet to be ascertained, some of the leaders who were arrested confided in our reporters that the arrest was orchestrated by the leader of the Tiv Cultural and Social Association in the State, Mr. Joshua Ayagwa who does not want the Tiv Community in the state to join another political party aside the ruling PDP in the state.
“The Taraba State President of Tiv Culturally and Social association has ordered for our arrest in the church. The Governorship candidate of the Social Democratic Party, Honerable Danladi Baido was with us in the church to seek for our prayers.
“So the president went and gave fake information about the whole issue at the Police Station and the CP ordered for our arrest. as I am talking to you, we are in the Taraba State Police Command”. One of the arrested leaders stated.
