Taraba: INEC declares Nuhu Akila winner of Lau Assembly seat

The Independent National Electoral Commission INEC has declared Nuhu Akila Rantiwo of the People Democratic Party PDP winner of Lau State constituency election held on Saturday 18 2023.
Declaring the result at Lau Local Government’s INEC Collation Center, the returning officer for Lau State constituency election, Dr. Wapa R. James said, Hon. Nuhu Akila pulled a total of eleven thousand three hundred and nine votes (11,309) to defeated his closest rival at the election, Mr. Emmanuel George of the APC who scored eight thousand two hundred and eighty nine votes (8,289) to emerged second.
Addressing journalists shortly after the declaration was made, Hon. Akila dedicated his victory to God Almighty and the entire people of Lau Local Government Area.
He thank the people for comming out en mass to vote for him, pledging that he would not let them down but do everything withing his powers to justify the confidence they repose in him.
“I am delighted over this victory. I want to use this opportunity to appreciate the good people of Lau, stakeholders and all the electorates who stood by my side to ensure that this victory has come to pass.
” I want to assure you that I will do my best to ensure that I give this constituency an effective and upright representation at the Taraba State House of Assembly during my tenure.
” I want to also call on all those who contested alongside with me at the election not to loss hope but join hands with me so that together we will lift up our constituency to an envious position while they wait for God’s appointed time
While harping on the conduct of the elections, Him. Akila noted that the elections were conducted free and fair under a peaceful atmosphere. He applauded the efforts of security agents and INEC officials in the Local Government for conducting them selves professionally to ensure a free and fair elections.
He pledged to work assiduously to unite his party members and the entire people of the constituency, appealing that aggrieved persons should sheath their swords and embrace dialogue for the sake of peace in PDP particular and the entire constituency in general.
In his comment, the Lau Local Government Care Taker Chairman (CTC), Hon. Nigeria Ezra, in a jubilation mood, congratulated Hon. Akila and the PDP family for the resounding victory.
He also commended the security operatives and INEC officials for their various commitments towards the peaceful conduct of the elections at the Local Government Area.
The Caretaker Committee Chairman (CTC ) called on those that lost out at the poll to join hands with winners and work together with them to building the constituency and and draw down all the dividends of democracy for the State the people of the constituency.
On his part, the chairman, the PDP chairman, Lau Local Government Area, Hon. Emmanuel Dodo, returned glory to God Almighty for his party’s victory both at the Local Government and the State level.
He commended the good people of Lau Local Government Area for putting their trust in the PDP and urged them to always walk in the spirit of the party and keep faith in it, especially that the new set of leader under the platform of the PDP were more than ever, determined to give the an effective representation.
