The Taraba Field Operation, Department of Petroleum Resources (DPR) has called on motorists to avoid panic buying of petroleum products in the state.
Eng. Ibrahim Yakubu, Head of Retails, Outlets and Marketing unit of the department who lead the operation gave the advice on Friday during the surveillance and enforcement operation in Jalingo.
He said that the essence of the operation was to ensure that marketers do not exhibit sharp practices that would adversely affect the public during and after the Yuletide.
He said that operators had tremendously complied with rules and regulations governing the petroleum down stream sub-sector.
He added that four filling stations were sealed up for under dispensing of the product during the operation which he said 20 station were visited within Jalingo town.
According to him, the level of compliance here in Taraba is quite tremendous and we commend makerters for cooperating with the DPR.
He also said that the operation determined the availability of the product as most of the tanks stored between 10 to 20 million litres of PMS.
He then assured the public that petroleum products were much available, adding that the department would not relent in sanctioning any defaulting operator who intended to shortchange
the public at all times.
Our Reporter recalls that the DPR in the state had been on regular enforcement surveillance and compliance operations where it has sealed up over 20 filling stations accross the state.
