We’re against Hudu, others behind illegal gov’ship result declaration -Adamawa APC

By Samuel Emmanuel, Yola

The Adamawa state chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has vowed to join Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri of the ruling Peoples Democratic party (PDP) in the state to prosecute those who connived with the suspended Resident Electoral Commissioner, REC, of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) Barrister Hudu Yunusa-Ari to illegally declare the winner of 2023 governorship polls while collation of results was still ongoing.

The APC State Chairman, Barrister Idris Shuaibu made the remark sequel to the recent state broadcast of Governor Fintiri when he talked about prosecuting those who connived with Hudu to make the state go through embarrassment.

The governor said during his broadcast, “As for those who connived with the REC to make us pass through those democratically embarrassing moments, l want to assure you once again that we owe it a duty to prosecute all of them according to the dictates of the law This is the only way we can protect our electoral process and democratic culture from undue abuse”

According to the state chairman of the APC, the party has set up a committee to join Fintiri to unravel those who were behind the unfortunate situation with the REC to put the state into a political crisis and uncertainties.

“Any member of the APC that is found having hand or aid Hudu in any way to do what he did , no matter their status, the APC has resolved to deal with them in accordance with the dictates of the law of the party and we also agreed to join hands with Governor Fintiri to prosecute them according to electoral laws,” he said.

The APC State Chairman however disagreed with the governor over a statement credited to him that Adamawa State is a state for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) as affirmed both at the polls and the courts.’

The APC chairman said the governor should not forget that his party the PDP can not form a two third majority in the state house of assembly and cannot actualize any bill without the support of the APC

According to the chairman, the APC has the support of the presidency as the ruling party at the top which makes it a strong opposition party in the state.

He also stated that APC lost governorship election to the PDP due to its lingering internal wrangling which was unresolved before the party approached the 2023 governorship election in the state.

Shuaibu said however that modalities have been put in place to address the internal wrangling through consultations and reconciliation of aggrieved party members.

However, Adamawa Concern Group has on behalf of citizens of Adamawa state chapter of the party passed a vote of Confidence to the state chairman of the APC Barrister Idris Shuaibu

“We citizens and members of the APC wish to therefore pass our extreme vote of confidence on the good leadership of our dynamic leader a great iconic of our time and a leader of our great party in the state

“With your leadership qualities, we believe we will grow higher and win the Governorship and other elections in the state” they said.
