Unimaid Alumni awards Gov Kefas, lawmaker, others, on meritorious services

The Taraba State chapter of University of Maiduguri (Unimaid) Alumni Association, has presented awards of excellent leadership to the governor of Taraba State, Dr Agbu Kefas.

The governor received the excellent leadership award alongside other eminent personalities including the member representing Donga, Takum, Ussa and Yangtu Develop Area, Hon Mark Useni, the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Gibon Kataps and Rtn Jerry Oliver among others

The awards were presented to the governor and the other awardees at the occasion of the maiden reunion and award night, organized by University of Maiduguri Alumni Association, Taraba State Chapter at Shield Hotel, Jalingo

Speaking shortly after receiving the award, governor Kefas, represented by the (SSG), Barr Gibon Kataps, appreciated Unimaid Alumni Association for identifying with him and recognizing his efforts towards repositioning the state on the path of progress

The governor also lauded the University for producing sound and vibrant personalities who have reasonably constituted part of the driving force that is moving the state on the fast lane of development.

He charged members of the association to continue working hard and in unity to keep making their alma mater proud, adding that the award presented to him, would propelled him to do more for the state

In his speech, the chairman, Central Planning Committee (CPC), Rtn Jerry Oliver, who also received humanitarian services award at the occasion, appreciated members for turning up en mass to grace the maiden occasion

He noted that the association basically aimed at reuniting personalities who graduated from the University of Maiduguri to see how best they could impact positively, what they acquired from the University, for the development of Taraba State in particular and Nigeria at large

Rtn Jerry urged members of the association, not to relent in their efforts towards building the nation but to continue working unanimously so that together they would serve humanity in the best way required of them by their creator

He appreciated the awards planning Committee for finding him worthy to be given an award in recognition of his humanitarian services, saying that the award was a call for him do more

Earlier in his speech, the chairman of the occasion, John Yakubu appreciated God for elevating most of their members to occupy key positions in the government of the state and for keeping them alive up to the moment

He lauded the uncommon unity and cooperation among members of the association and charged them to give back to the society, what they acquired at their alma mater, praying that God should continue refreshing their bond for the good of the society

Meanwhile, the event which ended with a buffet dinner, was a blow up chopine, where old friends and colleagues shared memories of university days and justified to the world that Unimaid, truly made personalities in Taraba State.
