TSU ASUU suspends strike, lauds stakeholders’ support

The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), Taraba State University (TSU) Chapter, has suspended the indefinite strike action it embarked upon on December 5, 2024.

A press statement by Dr. Garba Mbave Joshua, the Chairperson, TSU ASUU, indicates that the suspension is with immediate effect

Dr Mbave stated that the suspension followed the agreements in place, with the approval of ASUU National.

He commended the ASUU National, the Zonal leadership, and the TSU Congress for their unwavering support, which had culminated in the successful resolution of the struggle.

“The ASUU-TSU, expressed sincere gratitude to His Excellency, Dr. Agbu Kefas, the Governor of Taraba State, for his steadfast commitment and proactive leadership in resolving the recent dispute.

“His personal intervention, dedication to dialogue, and unwavering support for the university sector has been crucial in addressing the Union’s concerns and ensuring the positive resolution of the strike.

“The Union wishes to extend its sincere appreciation to the leadership of the Ministry of Tertiary Education and the University Administration for their collaborative efforts. Their dedication and commitment to constructive dialogue were instrumental in achieving this positive resolution

“We expressed profound gratitude to all stakeholders whose unwavering support and contributions facilitated the resolution of this strike action. We also extend our heartfelt appreciation to the general public for their understanding and patience throughout this challenging period

“Your solidarity and encouragement have been a source of strength, and we remain committed to a harmonious academic environment that benefits our students, staff, and the larger community”. The statement reads in part.

Recall that the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), Taraba State University (TSU) Chapter, had on 5th December, 2024 embarked on an indefinite strike citing partial implementation of multiple Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) and Memoranda of Action (MoAs) agreed upon with the Union since 2014.
