In a decisive move to rid Taraba State of criminal elements, troops of 6 Brigade Nigerian Army and Sector 3, Operation Whirl Stroke (OPWS), have dismantled multiple bandit hideouts and recovered logistics equipment in a well-coordinated clearance operation.

This was revealed by the Acting Assistant Director, Army Public Relations, 6 Brigade Nigerian Army, Capt Olubodunde Ooni a press statement made available to our Correspondent.

The intelligence-led operation, carried out on 5 July 2025, targeted a clandestine meeting allegedly convened by a wanted bandit kingpin, Liamdoo Douglas Adekpe, popularly known as Bajor.

According to the statement, the meeting location, situated deep in the southern axis of Wukari Local Government Area, was believed to be one of the strongholds of the Bajor-led criminal syndicate.

“Acting on credible intelligence, the troops launched a swift and aggressive offensive on 5 July 2025, targeting remote areas in the southern part of Wukari Local Government Area, believed to be a stronghold of the Bajor-led syndicate. Upon arrival, the criminals, sensing imminent danger, fled the scene, abandoning several valuable items.

The operation led to the destruction of key hideouts used by the syndicate for coordinating attacks and harboring weapons. Troops also recovered five operational motorcycles, suspected to have been used for rapid movement and raids on surrounding communities” the statement reads.

Speaking on the operation, Commander 6 Brigade Nigerian Army and Sector 3 OPWS, Brigadier General Kingsley Chidiebere Uwa, noted that while Bajor and his cohorts narrowly escaped, troops remain on high alert and are currently tracking their movements.

He emphasized that the Nigerian Army remains committed to pursuing and neutralizing all criminal elements threatening the peace and security of law-abiding citizens in Taraba State and beyond.

Uwa reaffirmed the resolve of 6 Brigade to sustain pressure on all terrorist enclenclaves while calling on residents of Taraba State to continue providing timely and actionable information to security agencies in support of ongoing operations.

He added that the 6 Brigade Nigerian Army will continue to adopt both kinetic and non-kinetic approaches to ensure lasting peace and stability in the region.
