Tiv community crowns John Ikyo as Tiv traditional leader in Wukari

The Tiv community of Wukari Local Government Area LGA, Taraba State, has elected Mr John Ikyo as the substantive Tiv traditional central leader (Ter Tiv Wukari).

John Ikyo who emerged the Ter – Tiv Wukari through selection by elders of the council, has been on acting capacity of the seat for over five years before the elevation

Addressing the people that turned up for the event shortly after the declaration was made by the representative of the elders in the Local Government, Hon David Mtuem, the Ter-Wukari, John Ikyo appreciated the Tiv community of Wukari LGA for finding him worthy to serve them in such capacity and assured that he would work tirelessly to justify the confidence reposed in him

“I want to most sincerely appreciate you for entrusting me with the mandate to serve you as the pioneer and substantive Ter- Wukari at this critical time when the role of traditional leaders in our communities is needed most. I want to sincerely assure you that I will remain loyal to all the constituted authorities in the state and I will work unanimously with leaders at all levels to ensure peace and prosperity of all manner of persons in our area”. He stated

The traditional leader reaffirmed his loyalty and support for the leadership of His Majesty, Manu Ishaku Adda Ali and the current administration of Governor Agbu Kefas, stating that he would collaborate with the governments to restore sustainable peace in the area

Zaki John lauded the efforts of the governor of Taraba State, Dr Agbu Kefas, towards maintenance of peace in the state and pledged that his subjects under his leadership, would continue to give the governor their maximum support to enable him succeed

Also speaking at the event, the representative of the elders and former member, State House of Assembly in the then Gongola State, Hon David Tagherga Mtuem, commended the elders for conducting themselves peacefully throughout the process that led to the unanimous selection of Zaki John Ikyo as the Ter Wukari

The former State House of Assembly member who said the selection was done in good faith, called on those who contended for the position alongside Zaki John Ikyo, to consider his emergence as an act of God and give him the necessary Support to enable him serve the people better

He said the selection was an affirmation and testament of the good work Zaki John Ikyo had done in the previous years and expressed optimism that he would serve the people well

Hon Mtuem further called on the people of the state to embrace peaceful coexistence and support all constituted authorities in order to attract sustainable development in the state

In their separate messages, the chairman, Tiv Cultural and Social Association TCSA, Wukari Local Government Chapter, Mr Aondowase Tar and Mr Ikpajo Ianna Adeyongo, all congratulated Zaki John Ikyo and urged him to prioritize unity, resilience, and commitment to the development of his subjects.
