There is hunger in the state; Dish out appointments – CAN tells Kefas

The Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), has charged the Executive Governor of Taraba State, Dr Agbu Kefas to dish out appointments to advisers and board members in order to deal with hunger and poverty in the State.

The Chairman, Christian Association of Nigeria CAN, Rev. Dr. Isaiah Jirapye Magaji, gave this charge while speaking at a special service program organised by CAN to commemorate Independent Day Celebration, pray and give thanks to God.

Rev Jirapye stated that the issues of insecurity and hunger in the land demand urgent attention, as such, the governor would have to make more efforts to deal with the issues headlong.

Accordingly, he advised that the Governor should dish out appointments to advisers and board members as one of the ways to tackle these issues.

In his words, ” you will have to dish out appointments to advisers and board members to deal with hunger and poverty in the State. Truly speaking there is hunger in the land and we don’t want people to lose confidence in you and your God given government”.

Rev Jirapye who emphasized the need for security of lives and property of the people, encouraged Christians to be ware of the antics of the devil, resist idleness and work hard to become truly independent.

The clergy also charged Christians in the state to continue praying for Governor Agbu Kefas, his team and the projects he has planned for the State. “Let us all give him the needed support to move Taraba forward to greatness”. He added.

While congratulating Nigeria @ 63, the clergy called on Nigerians to consider critical questions such as “Do we truly understand what it means to be independent? Are we truly independent or still dependent? Have we progressed, excelled and developed as an independent nation with all the natural endowment?

“Are the citizens independent or dependent? And Has our independence affected the masses positively? These he said, are serious questions still begging for answers which need to be considered as we celebrate our 63 years.

He congratulated governor Agbu Kefas for his 100 hundred days in office and on his recent victory at the tribunal and advise those who challenged the victory to quickly call and congratulate His Excellency and if possible, visit him to collaborate with him to move Taraba forward into her promised and anticipated greatness.

In his speech at the occasion, Governor Agbu Kefas congratulated Nigera @63 and assured the people of Taraba State that his administration is commited to building a prosperous and more united Taraba where every one would enjoy the fruits of the land.

He said the administration would continue to put in place life changing programmes across education sector, health sector, infrastructure and food Security among others to make life easy for the entire people of the state.

Meanwhile, the special prayer programme featured prayers for the governor, Dr Agbu Kefas and his family, peace and security of the state, the Judicial arm of government in the state among others.

High-profile personalities including His Excellency, Dr. Agbu Kefas, Her Excellency, Mrs. Agyin Kefas, the first Lady of Taraba State, the SSG Barrister G T Katataps, Speaker, Taraba State House of Assembly, Honourable Members, Taraba State House of Assembly,  Honourable commissioners, the Head of Service, Chief of staff to the Governor, Chief Justice, Permanent Secretaries and many other powerful personalities accompanied the governor for the special moment with God.
