The Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFUND), has approved a set of special intervention projects for the College of Agriculture, Science and Technology (COAST), Jalingo, Taraba State.
Provost of the college, Dr. Yakubu Ali Garjila, announced this development during a press briefing in Jalingo.
Garjila described the intervention as a milestone achievement, stating that the focus of the approved projects will be on practical skill development, with possible future interventions in infrastructure and staff training expected by 2026.
“I thank God for this major achievement. I was invited to Abuja last week, where I received the official letter confirming the approval of intervention projects for our college,” Dr. Garjila disclosed.
Upon his return, he promptly briefed the college management and staff on the new development.
According to the Provost, four departments will benefit from the intervention: Fisheries, Forestry, Horticulture, and the Entrepreneurship Development Centre.
He explained that the Fisheries Department will receive a perimeter fence, dam, surface tanks, and state-of-the-art fish farming equipment. The Entrepreneurship Centre is also set for an upgrade with the provision of computers, sewing machines, and hairdressing tools. Additionally, selected staff members will be trained to ensure the effective use and sustainability of the facilities.
Dr. Garjila emphasized that the college is currently compiling and submitting required documentation to TETFUND to facilitate the timely release of funds and commencement of the projects.
Expressing his joy, he said, “Even if I leave office today, I will go home fulfilled, knowing I’ve left something meaningful behind.”
He went on to thank former Acting Governor Alhaji Sani Abubakar Danladi, who sits on the TETFUND board, for his instrumental support, and also appreciated Governor Agbu Kefas for his consistent backing of the institution.
