TER U TIV ZAMFARA CORONATES NEW CHIEFS, URGES THEM TO LEAD WITH INTEGRITY AND COURAGE

Mohamme Tikka

The paramount ruler of the Tiv people in Zamfara State, His Royal Highness Abaver Terkuram Joels, JP, PhD, on November 2, 2025, performed the coronation of four newly appointed chiefs at his royal palace in Gusau, the Zamfara State capital.

The event marked a significant moment for the Tiv community in the state, as the traditional council expanded its leadership structure to strengthen unity, promote cultural values, and improve grassroots representation among Tiv people living in Zamfara.

In his royal address and prayers for the new chiefs, HRH Abaver Terkuram Joels charged them to serve their communities with humility, transparency, and the fear of God. He reminded them that traditional leadership is a sacred responsibility that demands dedication and accountability.

> “You have been carefully chosen by your people based on trust, respect, and merit,” the Ter U Tiv said. “You must remain selfless and just in all your dealings. Always remember that your actions reflect not only on your clans but on the entire Tiv community.”

The ruler encouraged the chiefs to stand firm in the face of challenges, saying that leadership often comes with trials and opposition.

“You might be threatened, intimidated, attacked, or even abused,” he cautioned. “But do not lose focus. Stay steadfast, remain courageous, and continue to serve with integrity and commitment.”

The four newly coronated chiefs and their titles are:
Chief (Pharm.) Peter Ngueliorga Emmanuel, JP, Mue u Tiv Zamfara State
Chief (Engr.) Philip Tsebee Gyuche, Tyoor u Ichongo
Chief Aondosoo Emmanuel Ikyaaimon, Tyoor u Ipusu
Chief Adege Emmanuel – Ortar u Ichongo

According to the Tiv Traditional Rulers Council of Zamfara State, official letters of appointment will be issued to the newly coronated chiefs at a later date to formally confirm their positions within the council.

The coronation ceremony was attended by dignitaries, community elders, family members, and well-wishers who came from within and outside Zamfara State to witness the historic occasion. The atmosphere was filled with cultural display, traditional music, and blessings for the new leaders.

Speaking after the event, some members of the Tiv community described the coronation as a step towards greater unity and recognition for Tiv people in Zamfara. They expressed hope that the newly installed chiefs would work closely with the Ter U Tiv to promote peace, development, and cultural preservation.

The ceremony ended with prayers for peace and prosperity in Zamfara State and for the continued growth of the Tiv nation.
