Taraba: PRP debunks claim of joining PDP, threatens legal action
Jethro Yerga, Jalingo
The People’s Redemption Party PRP, has debunked the claim by the spoke man of the People’s Democratic Party PDP, Mr Emmanuel Bello that PRP has joined the the People’s Democratic Party and consequently, vowed to take legal action against the allegation.
In a press release signed by the Chairman of the PRP in Taraba state, Comrade Abdullahi Maikusuwa, the party described the statement by Mr Emmanuel Bello as tales by Moonlight and emphasized that the statement was not only false and outlandish in its entirety but a provocation that is actionable under the electoral law.
The release states that Mr. Emmanuel Bello had been given a brief to Target the PRP seeing that the party was making great strides in the minds of the people of Taraba especially in the southern zone of the state where the PDP’s years of misrule had rendered it unpopular among the people.
It further described the action of Mr Bello and the PDP as a desperate act of a drowning party clutching at straws for survival.
It noted that Mr Bello recently defected from the All Progressive Congress APC to which he fled after being humiliated by the same PDP which he now returned to seek for ways to shore up the flagging fortunes of his lack lustre principal and the party.
“Emmanuel Bello’s statement and claims are lies from the pit of hell and only shows his desperation to please his masters in order to demonstrate that he is actually earning the peanuts he earns as spokesman of a governorship candidate whose status is still being challenged in court of competent jurisdiction.
“Following from its years of misrule especially under the maladministration of incumbent Governor Darius Dickson Ishaku, the PDP is now facing imminent rejection by Tarabans as deserved punishment for its criminal neglect of the people of the state.
“In this dark endeavour, Emmanuel Bello is targeting PRP because the PDP which he represents now senses that the people of Taraba State are flocking to the PRP, the party known for its defence of the downtrodden, as alternative to the PDP.
“We therefore, call on Emmanuel Bello to issue a public apology to the PRP for this condemnable and despicable act of political gangsterism which is capable of polluting the political atmosphere leading to unnecessary heating of the polity in Taraba.
“PRP can never in a million years join with the PDP. While the PDP stands for oppression and denial of the rights and entitlement of the people of Taraba, the PRP on the other hand stands with Tarabans in their demands for good governance and dividends of democracy. The release reads in part.
It cautioned Emmanuel Bello to desist forthwith from such acts which it maintained, had run contrary to the norms of decent political conduct and against the extant provisions of the electoral act.
While calling on the teeming supporters of the party to discountenance the wild and false claims of Emmanuel Bello, Comr. Abdullahi Maikasuwa appealed to the supporters to remain calm and law abiding in the face of the provocation, assuring them that the party would refered the matter to its lawyers to determine next line of action.
