The 22 out of 144 pilgrims whom the media had earlier reported were stranded in Amman Jordan, have said that the report was false

A rejoinder titled “Re-Taraba Pilgrims Stranded in Amman Jordan Over Alleged Corrupt Practices,” signed by the name “Concerned 22 Pilgrims to Amman Jordan”, and made available to press, the pilgrims clarified that they are not in anyway, stranded in Amman Jordan as stated in the media reports

The pilgrims rather, lauded the Governor of Taraba State, Dr. Agbu Kefas and the Christian Pilgrims Welfare Board, for providing them with the rare opportunity to participate in the 2023/2024 Pilgrimage.

“We, the 22 Taraba Pilgrims currently in Amman, Jordan, would like to address the recent allegations of corruption surrounding our pilgrimage.

“Firstly, we want to express our gratitude to the Governor of Taraba State, Dr. Agbu Kefas, for providing us with the opportunity to participate in the 2023/2024 Pilgrimage.

“It is essential to clarify that we have not been stranded in Jordan, as stated in the various media platforms. On the contrary, we have been properly taken care of throughout our stay over here.

“Our accommodations have been comfortable, our needs have been met, and we have been able to participate in all the religious activities and ceremonies as planned by the Taraba State Christian Pilgrims Welfare Board.

“The Taraba State Christian Pilgrims Welfare Board did not abandon us in Amman, Jordan. We want to clarify that we were fully informed at the inception of this holy trip that our pilgrimage would take place in Jordan, where many biblical historic places for pilgrimage are located.

“Regarding the Basic Travel Allowance BTA where the media stated that we were given $300 instead of $500, we want to categorically state that during our orientation at the CAN Secretariat in Jalingo, we were informed that $300 would be our BTA. We want to emphasize that we are truly thankful for the opportunity given to us to embark on this pilgrimage.

“It has been a spiritually fulfilling experience for all of us, and we are grateful for the support and care we have received from the Governor Dr. Agbu Kefas and the Taraba State Christian Pilgrims Welfare Board as well as Nigerian Christian Pilgrims Commission during this trip.

“We want to clear every doubts that we the 22 pilgrims, received the same entitlements and benefits as those who went to Israel, including certificates and souvenirs.

“It is our hope that this rejoinder will clarify any misunderstandings or misinformation surrounding our pilgrimage. Our only focus is on deepening our faith and connection to our religion, and we are honored to have been able to do so on this journey’. The rejoinder reads in part

Recall that various media platforms, recently reported that 22 out of 144 Pilgrims from Taraba State who departed to the holy land of Israel on January 24, 2025, were allegedly, stranded in Amman, Jordan, as they could not proceed to Israel due to alleged corrupt practices.
