
Taraba Parlliative committee receives fertilizer procured by governor Kefas for farmers

The Committee set up by the Executive Governor of Taraba State, Dr Agbu Kefas to ensure judicious, fair and effective implementation of the state palliative measures following the hardship down on the citizens as a result of subsidy removal in Nigeria, has received from the Ministry of Agriculture, part of the 49 thousand bags of fertilizer the government of Taraba state had earlier promised to supply to farmers in the state.
Performing a symbolic presentation of bags of the fertilizer to the committee on behalf of Governor Agbu Kefas at the State Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security during an official ceremony, the Commissioner, Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security, Professor Nicholas Oliver Namessan said the fertilizers were to be disbursed to farmers without any element of financial implication
He however, noted that bags of the fertilizer were arriving the state in batches as such, the Parlliative committee may wish to start the disbursement anytime a reasonable quantity was in place.
“We are handing over this bags of fertilizer purchased by the Executive Governor of Taraba State to the Parlliative committee for onward distribution to Taraba State farmers for free of charge. No financial implication is attached to any bag of this fertilizer”. He emphasized.

Professor Nicholas Oliver further appreciated the Taraba State Government for the gracious donation of the fertilizer through the oversight and supervision of the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security noting that, the government, through the Ministry, had within 100 days in office of His Excellency, Dr. A gbu Kefas, achieved a lot in giving support to farmners in the state.
The Commissioner who urged all beneficiaries of the fertilizer to make good use of it as raining season is still on, emphasized that “we are in difficult times that everyone was in need of food and other valuables for human use and we should be able to make use of any opportunity, especially of this kind”.
Receiving the fertilizer, the Chairman of the Taraba State Parlliative Committee, Hon Saleh Sa’ad, appreciated the efforts of the Executive Governor of Taraba State towards cushioning the hardship caused by subsidy removal on the people of Taraba State.
He assured farmers that as soon as a reasonable quantity of the product is handed over to the committee, they would maped up modalities to effectively disbursed to local farmers across the 16 LocL Government Areas of the state.

While expressing their joy on behalf of Taraba State farmers at the occasion, a former chairman of Taraba State Rice Farmers Association, Tanko Bobo Andemi and Mrs Ruth S. Pantuvo, all lauded Governor Agbu Kefas for identifying with farmer during their challenging moment and appealed to the Parlliative Committee to put up a short term plan to ensure effective disbursement of the fertilizer on time especially that the raining season was fast wearing away.
The duo who emphasized the importance of food Security in the stated noted that there will be no national security if there is no food Security. They advocated for stringent rules in the state to stop people from coming into the state to make away with the food in the state, pledging that farmers in the state where solidly behind the government of Dr Agbu Kefas because of the initial good deeds of his administration.
