Taraba: Nuhu floors former NUT chair, others in Lau State Assembly PDP Primaries

A retired Director of Quality Assurance at the Taraba State Primary Board, Hon. Nuhu Akila has defeated the formal Taraba State chairman of the Nigeria Union of Teachers (NUT), Peter Julius Vau and six other contestants in the People’s Democratic Party’s Primary election for Lau State Assembly Constituency to emerged the party’s candidate for the 2023 general elections.

Announcing the result of the election at the Legislative Chamber of Lau Local Government where the election was held, the Returning Officer, Sadiq Nuhu Bullow said out of the total votes of 31 casted in the election, Hon. Nuhu Akila pulled 28 votes to defeat his closest rival, Hon. Peter Julius Vau.

The returning Officer also announced that the remaining 6 aspirants scored zero vote each.

Addressing delegates and other high profile politicians who witnessed the election shortly after the result was declared, Hon. Nuhu who was overwhelmed with joy, called on those who contested with him not to be discouraged but join hands with him to enable PDP win at the general elections.

Hon. Nuhu who pledged to run an all inclusive representation if elected at the general elections, also called on the party members and the entire good people of Lau Local Government Area to join hands with him so that they would retain peace and build Lau Local Government Area of their dream.

Meanwhile, all the contestants accepted the result in good fate and took turns at the occasion to congratulate Hon. Nuhu Akila for emerging as the flag bearer of the party for Lau State Assembly Constituency, pledging that they would support him to win at the general elections and give victory for the PDP.

The Primary election was witnessed by the Minority Leader of the Senate, Distinguished Senator Shuaibu Isa Lau, the Speaker, Taraba State House of Assembly, Hon. Prof. Akinjo Albasu Kunini and the immediate past Commissioner of Works and Transport, Hon. Irmiya Hammanjulde among other PDP Stalwarts in the constituency.
